Meet Prague, a gentle-souled sweetheart looking for her forever home.
About: Prague is a shy yet sweet girl who is gradually emerging from her shell.
This lovely girl exudes calm and agreeable, and she is an ideal choice for someone with previous dog ownership experience.
Her tender nature is marked by occasional nervousness and sensitivity, but underneath it all, Prague is a friendly, happy, and curious girl.
Ideal Home: Prague would do well in any home, but a calm and quiet environment in particular would be best suited.
Whether it's a townhouse, house, or a spacious farm, Prague can adapt as long as there's a medium to large yard with secure fencing.
She enjoys being around people so a home that allows her access inside would be ideal to allow her to feel like a cherished part of the family.
Family: Due to her shy and timid disposition, she would be most comfortable around older kids, aged 10 years and up.
Prague is also open to living with individuals who work full-time, as she would appreciate a family that can provide her with the love and support, she needs.
Furry Friends: She is open to meet other dogs but would need further socialisation. Her dog assessment showed us that she was very interested in meeting & interacting with the other dog but her lack of socialisation & lack of confidence may get in the way. We are committed to her journey & will be supporting her as she grows in confidence.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Prague would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the direction of her new owners.
As always, we recommend that when introducing your new & existing animals that it is does slowly & that each animals boundaries are respected.
Training & Development: Prague would benefit from post-adoption training, such as basic home training and group classes to help her with dog socialisation and boost her confidence. This will play a crucial role in her development.
With the right family and continued confidence training, she has the potential to become the perfect dog for walks, cafes, and social events.
Prague is food-motivated and takes treats gently from your hand which will assist with training too. She is still learning her name but has mastered the art of ‘sit’ & does it well! She is very keen to learn more, especially when treats are involved.
It is important to know that she will occasionally jump up to say hello, she does this gently and polity and does it only to seek reassurance from her handler.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Prague's energy levels range from medium to high, and she would benefit from daily walks and activities ranging from 20 to 60+ minutes. This not only keeps her body active but also contributes to a healthy and happy state of mind.
She has a soft spot for toys, especially soft ones!
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
