Meet Greta, with her loving nature and adorable personality, she would make a wonderful addition to any home.
About: Greta's gentle and friendly nature makes her the perfect dog for anyone seeking a four-legged friend. Despite her initial shyness, she quickly warms up to people and gets an adorable excitable kick out of spending time with them – she may be a bit shy at first, but her heart is overflowing with affection and happiness.
Ideal for first-time dog owners, Greta's calm demeanour and polite manners make her a lovely dog to be around.
She may greet you with a friendly jump, but she's always gentle and polite in her interactions.
Ideal Home: Adaptable as they come, she is suitable for any home environment, although she may prefer a calm and quiet home over loud and busy. Whether you live in an apartment or a house, or anything in between, Greta will thrive - as long as the yard is securely fenced.
She's quiet, social, and happiest when in the company of her loved ones so access to inside the home is important to her.
Family: She's open to meeting children, provided they understand her slight timidity and give her space when needed. She is also suitable for people who work part-time.
Furry Friends: During her dog assessment, Greta showed openness to meeting other dogs, although she may feel a bit uncertain when meeting them face to face. With some confidence-building exercises, she has the potential to become very dog-social but isn’t quite there just yet. We are committed to working with her on this journey of self-discovery.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Greta would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the direction of her new owners.
Training & Development: She would also benefit from training at home to cover your basics & group classes to assist her with her confidence around other dogs.
Although she's still learning her name, Greta already knows how to ‘sit’ and is eager to learn more commands. Greta loves treats & always takes them gently for your hand.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Greta's polite demeanour extends to her behaviour on walks—she walks well with minimal pulling & is best walked on a flat collar & lead.
Her energy levels are medium, and she would benefit from exercise/walks from 20-30mins a day.
She doesn’t appear too interested in toys. She prefers human interaction & attention.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
