About Banjo

Big Banjo is 2 years old and has found himself homeless and, in the pound, due to no fault of his own. This gorgeous German Shepherd is ready to find his forever home with a committed, loving owner that will help shape him into a well-rounded, well socialised dog.
Banjo has a wonderful temperament and hasn’t met anyone or anything he doesn’t instantly like, with his tongue hanging out the side of his mouth, he bounds up to new people to say hello and is soon pushing into your legs for a cuddle and flopping into your lap. Banjo would suit most family dynamics; however, he can forget his size and manners at times and will jump up, he would be best suited to a family with large breed experience.
Banjo hasn’t had much in the way of training, he knows the basics but not much else just yet, he loves verbal praise, being told he is a good boy is his favourite thing as well as toys being used as a reward. Banjo isn’t super treat motivated, however we are sure with some special treats, he will be tempted.
Banjo will need to work on his manners and general obedience with his new family, practising focus under distraction and impulse control will help him to be the good boy we know he can be. Banjo would thrive attending group obedience sessions as well as short, frequent training sessions at home.
Banjo loves being around his people and enjoys cuddling up on the couch and on the bed in his foster home, he is a true ‘German Shadow’. Banjo must be allowed inside and included as part of the family in his new home, he would prefer to have someone home more often than not.
Banjo gets along well with other dogs, he can be a little unsure how to play with them at first and will bark in an effort to get other dogs to play, once he figures them out, he likes to play rough and wrestle. Banjo would love to live with another dog in his new home, a slightly older, large-breed, confident dog that can show Banjo the ropes and also tell him off when needed would be most suitable.
When presented with a confident cat, Banjo was happy to hang out and was quite relaxed around them, however if a cat runs, he will chase – not aggressively, but because it is fun! With slow integration and supervision, Banjo may be suited to living with a confident cat, initial separation may be required.
This gorgeous boy has a heart of gold and is just the sweetest, most friendly boy. You will be hard pressed to find a German Shepherd with a better temperament than Banjo, he has all the makings of the most wonderful dog, he just needs someone to fine-tune his manners and put the time and effort into him, we can already tell it will pay off 100 times over.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
