Mochi, the 10-month-old male Maremma guardian dog, is a captivating blend of independence, striking presence and enigmatic personality.

As a true Maremma guardian, Mochi is still learning to express his innate nature, now finding his place in the world under the watchful eye of our operations manager and family and pack of rehab dogs - all out at our farm. With each passing day, he grows more confident and comfortable in his role, embracing his natural instincts.

But beneath Mochi's somewhat aloof exterior (typical to the breed) lies a heart of gold. Mochi may take his time warming up to new friends, but once he does he offers companionship and protection.

Observations from Mochi's Farm Stay - thanks Lexy! :

"Until we took Mochi home he had no idea on how to understand his own instincts or brain as he was unable to channel his behaviour.

However with great delight to witness - Mochi has settled quicker than expected and is developing into a wonderful dog, and very typical of the breed.

Mochi had previously never seen children, open acreage, livestock, shorter rural fences - or even socialized with other dogs - but he has taken it all in his stride and is flourishing. He has been sensational with our other dogs big and small.

Mochi's adoption campaign with begin whist he continues to stay on with us at our farm in the Swan Valley.

A preference to experience with the breed, or at least had dogs previously and an interest in Maremmas.

Acreage is also preferred - these guys are a 'working breed' however he is not yet tested with stock or chickens.

Children and other dogs will be considered upon meet and greet and case by case basis - however his display of behaviour in this area has been 100% positive. He has interacted with my dog savvy 5 and 6 year olds without issue. "
