Mason (On Trial)

Mason is on trial in a new home. Many more dogs and cats at www. Dogrescuenewcastle. Com. Au. . . Mason is 2yo, purebred shih tzu. He's quite a character: very inquisitive and playful yet he also has a timid side. Totally lovable. He's so funny: he is extremely curious about everything so he runs to investigate any new sight or sound, but then suddenly feels shy and runs back. It's like the part of him which is so curious is in conflict with the part of him which is timid. I think in time his timidity will be less and less. He can be a bit shy of strangers but soon warms to them. He adores his foster mum, and will bond closely with anyone who is kind to him. . . . . Mason likes toys and rawhide bones. He's not a barker and doesn't nip. He looooves his food! he is an inside dog and craves human and doggy company. He loves playing with other small dogs and will need to go to a forever home where he will have another playful canine friend. He would not be suitable to a home with small children because he would not enjoy the noise and boisterous activity. . . . Mason has quite a history! he was surrendered to dog rescue newcastle from a neglectful situation. When his foster carer was driving him home, she stopped in sandgate and unthinkingly opened the car door (he should have been tethered or in a crate). Mason took off and remained lost for 11 days. He was eventually picked up 10km up the highway in taro and returned to us thanks to his microchip. He had 2 paralysis ticks on him (no ill affects) and was skinny and hungry but his spirit was unaffected. This boy is a survivor! after just a month in foster care he has blossomed into a happy, healthy, cheeky little munchkin. We all just adore him. He makes us laugh all the time with his funny antics. . . . Mason didn't have any training before being rescued but he is learning to walk on a lead and basic commands. He is not perfectly housetrained quite yet, but we think that is because he is living with 2 other male dogs and there is a bit of competition going on. When he spent a long weekend with another carer who only has one other dog, he always did his business outside. If you just let him outside regularly, or have a doggy door, you shouldn't have any issue with toileting. . . . He is a purebred shih tzu. He has a very pretty, non-shedding coat which requires regular bathing and clipping. On the plus side, he won't shed on your clothes or furniture. . . . Mason is very special to us and we want him to go to a loving home where he will be valued and treated like a member of the family.
