About Toby
Toby will be most happy if his new home has:
- Toby would love to live in a large yard/large property, with plenty of smells to check out.
- Toys and water, toys and water toys and water (from Toby)
- Toby needs to be an only dog, with someone is home often.
- To be allowed inside when his family is home.
- A family that has time to play fetch and take Toby for a stroll.
Toby is after a lover of big dogs, he is a well mannered but has burst of over enthusiasm.
Toby would love a home with a large yard/large property that he can potter around in with different smells and toys. He loves his people and is after a quieter lifestyle not the rat race of a city. He loves to be inside with his family when they are home and is happy outside when they are not. Having other animals in the home can get him over excited so he would be happy as an only dog. Toby loves going for a sniff walk on a longline and can be walk with a head harness on a shorter lead when needed. His idea of exercising is a leisurely stroll but enjoys time where he can open up and have a run on private farm property.
Now that Toby has been living on the farm he has gained fitness, he still enjoys strolls on lead but loves to walk/run off lead around the timber areas of the farm with his carer, he has great recall doesn't go far and will keep returning for pats (he is not suitable off lead in public places).
Toby will sit for food, is crate trained, and can spend time in an outdoor dog run when his people are out for the day if needed, although he has shown no signs of jumping farm style fences. He enjoys an assortment of toys, soccer balls, chews and plushies, and loves to play fetch. Can it get any better for those that love big dogs? well it does, he is toilet trained and travels well in the car.
All Toby asks for is water to play in, he loves it and will splash around in a shell pool and the pond at his foster carers and is even known for sticking his head completely under the water blowing bubbles and pulling lost doggy toys out of the pond. He will make you laugh all day with his funny ways. He is crate trained and can sleep there all night, he hardly ever barks, he doesn't mark, and can entertain himself outside with toys and chews until his people get home. For the right home he is near perfrect.
Toby has times of excitement where his enthusiasm for loving his people can cause him to place his front feet on them and lick their faces. A stern NO reminds him to sit and wait patiently.
As a 8 week old puppy in the pound it was guessed that he was a Border collie, but he forgot to stop growing, his breed is unknown.
The breed is to the best of our knowledge from the information we've been given.
