About Dixie - 18 Month Old English Staffy X (Trial)
Delightful Dixie the 18 month old English Staffordshire Terrier cross is the loyal family member you’ve been looking for. After being a young mum she is now ready to be part of her forever family and enjoy the sweet life where she is loved and adored.
Dixie is a well mannered sweet girl, she’s a small sized staffy, just 15kg, who adores her humans. She will fit beautifully in with a family who have time to show her love and affection as well as continue her training. Still a puppy at heart she enjoys walks and playing with her humans. She is happy staying at home while you work, and enjoys being inside with her people where she also likes to sleep. Dixie is loyal and loving and so much fun.
Dixie enjoys her daily walks she gets excited at first especially if she is out in a new place, she responds quite well to positive reinforcement and will continue to improve with more training. She is affectionate, enjoying cuddles and belly rubs. She loves attention but she is also happy to be by herself in a quiet place. While in foster care she has adapted to her foster family’s activities whether it’s joining in with the play or laying on the couch while everyone watches TV.
Her favourite toys are ropes and balls and she loves to play tug of war. She gets excited when her human foster brother plays soccer with the balls and runs and tries to catch the ball. Dixie is not currently living with another dog, however she has been tested with dogs and has been ok. She will need an easy and gentle introduction to other dogs and would need to be tested with a potential fur sibling. Dixie is toilet trained and she goes all night without accidents if let out before her bed time. She is very smart and aware of her surroundings.
She comes when she is called, she sits when she is asked and is very keen to please. She sits and shakes hands before being given a treat. Sometimes she barks if she hears noise outside, especially other dogs, but she stops as soon as she is redirected. She listens very well and follows instructions for example when she is not allowed to jump on one specific couch. She is great when visitors come to the house.
She loves food and treats Dixie’s ideal family will let her be with them when they’re home and to sleep inside.
Dixie will be your best friend forever, she just wants to be loved and be safe. She is very protective and loyal and loves to follow her humans around. She will need a family committed to daily exercise and continued training. Dixie needs secure fencing to keep her safe, unfortunately rural fencing (wire or mesh) is not suitable. Dixie would be happy being an only dog or having a fur sibling with a slow introduction. She has not been tested with cats or pocket pets.
Dixie loves playing and snuggling with her teenage human siblings, she has not been tested with young children. We would recommend she goes to a home with children 8 and older
