When babies Pedro and Patrick came into foster care with Nurse Lisa and the team everyone was in awe of their beautiful little peepers đ
Pedro and Patrick both have heterochromia which is the term used when a cat has different coloured eyes!
Heterochromia is the result of uneven distribution of melanin. When kittens are born their eyes lack pigment and appear blue but during the first weeks/months of kittenhood melanin is distributed to the iris of the eyes. If the melanin is unevenly distributed the eye will appear to be two different colors and if melanin is only distributed to one iris the other eye is left completely blue.
Heterochromia in cats with white coats unfortunately increases the likelihood of deafness but there is no impact on their eyesight.
These guys have no signs of deafness.
