About Zanthe
We’re not quite sure what breeds are in Zanthe’s makeup, but best guess is Maltese x Shihtzu. She weighs 6.5 kilos.
This dear girl came into care about to give birth, which we approached with trepidation because she lived with a male Kelpie in her former home.
When the birth didn’t proceed at the rate we expected, a late night trip to the vets took place only to confirm that she needed an emergency Caesarean section. Sadly both puppies didn’t survive and mum was quite ill for a day or two.
Onwards and upwards and Zanthe made great progress in our care - from being a cat hater, she is now fine with our cats. She initially wasn’t a fan of small dogs either, but has no problems in that area now.
The one thing we haven’t been able to persuade her to leave behind is food guarding! She may not want the food, but feels she has to shriek at all and sundry if they venture within 1 metre of the food. Mealtimes aren’t usually a drama, it’s just if titbits or biscuits appear in between times.
She walks well on leash and is a great car traveller. She enjoys the company of our grandchildren when they visit.
Zanthe is in care at Tamworth, NSW.
Medical notes
Xanthe is microchipped, vaccinated and desexed. She has had a dental scale and polish and had two bad teeth removed.

Please express your interest by sending an email through PetRescue.
Tell us about the home and lifestyle you can offer a dog.
We are interested in your family situation (who is in your family) their work/study hours, how long the dog would be left alone during a typical week.
What you can offer a dog in terms of activities, outings and training.
If you have other pets - in most cases we look favourably on a home with an existing dog or the possibility of adding another dog at a later stage (the exception would be if the dog being rehomed is not so good with other dogs).
Please also let us know where the dog will sleep and if it will be welcomed inside.
