About: If you're ready to welcome a gentle, sweet, and affectionate soul into your life, consider opening your heart and home to Venus, she'll be the perfect pooch for all of life's adventures – from leisurely strolls to cosy cuddle sessions.
Venus is the perfect fit for both first-time dog owners and seasoned enthusiasts alike. Her adaptable nature makes her well-suited to any kind of household, though she would thrive best in a calm and quiet environment where her gentle and sensitive personality can truly shine.
Whether you're a laid-back homebody or an active adventurer, Venus is a perfect match either way! Plus, her quiet demeanour means you won't have to worry about noisy disruptions – she's as peaceful as can be!
Ideal Home: Venus is suitable for most properties/dwellings & yard sizes, as long as the yard is surely fenced.
As she really enjoys being around people it’s beneficial for her to have access to inside the home frequently where she can bask in the company of her human companions.
Family: Venus has an agreeable demeanour and affectionate nature and is open to meeting kids of all ages. Venus would also be a wonderful addition for people who work part-time.
Furry Friends: Venus is open to meet other dogs. During her dog assessment Venus had loose body indicating that she was at ease, she showed us playful and social behaviour towards the other dog. She was very keen to interact & was also responsive to her handlers’ directions.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how she would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets – this would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
As always, we recommend that when introducing your new & existing animals that it is does slowly & that each animals boundaries are respected.
Training and Development: Post-adoption training, such as training at home for your basic commands, or group classes, will ensure that her social skills (which are already great) don’t diminish over time.
While she may be a bit particular about treats, Venus always takes them gently from your hand, showcasing her polite manners and sweet disposition.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: With moderate energy needs, Venus enjoys walks and playtime, ranging from 20-30 mins. each day.
Venus may need a little encouragement to master her leash manners, but with the right tools and guidance, she'll be strutting by your side in no time. A martingale would be the ideal walking apparatus for her.
And although she's not overly interested in toys, she prefers human interaction and personal playtime.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
