Meet Kanyon, smart, friendly & one happy boy!
About: Kanyon is a smart and friendly canine who is ready to be your loyal sidekick. Whether you're a first-time dog owner or a seasoned pro, Kanyon's adaptable nature makes him the perfect fit for any household.
With his high energy and love for the great outdoors, he's an ideal match for active individuals or families who enjoy spending time outside.
With his outgoing and playful demeanour, Kanyon is sure to keep you entertained with his zoomies and love for plush toys. While he may get a bit boisterous when excited, his sweet nature and willingness to learn make him an irresistible choice for adoption.
Ideal Home: Kanyon is comfortable living in various environments, be it a townhouse, house, or even a sprawling farm. As long as he has a medium to large yard with secure fencing, he'll have plenty of room to roam and play.
Family: This charming dude is open to meeting kids aged 6 years and up. Reason for this is due to his enthusiasm, he may need a bit of guidance to contain his excitement, especially when greeting new friends.
Furry Friends: During his assessment, Kanyon demonstrated his friendly and playful nature, making him a great candidate for meeting or living with other dogs.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Kanyon would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets – this would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training and Development: Kanyon is a bright and eager learner who responds well to training.
While he already knows commands like 'sit', 'down', and 'crawl', he's eager to expand his repertoire with the help of post-adoption training sessions. Plus, he's a big fan of treats, which makes training sessions all the more enjoyable!
He would benefit from post-adoption training, such as training at home to keep his mind sharp & group classes to keep his dog socialisation in check. He is smart and shows great initiative to training.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: With his medium to high energy levels, Kanyon thrives on daily exercise - from brisk walks to stimulating play sessions, he enjoys staying active to keep both his body and mind in top shape.
Although Kanyon's leash manners could use a little polishing, he's currently undergoing training to master the art of loose leash walking.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface.
