About Lulu Dubois
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:

Meet Lulu, an older kelpie with a heart full of love and a zest for life. This smart and friendly girl is always up for new adventures and thrives on exploring the world around her. Lulu is a keen and happy hiker, who quickly settles into new environments and loves to lead the way on trails with her tail wagging the whole time. Whether it's a walk around the neighborhood, a hike in the hills, or chasing a ball at the park, Lulu's enthusiasm is contagious.
Lulu is house-trained and knows how to wait until she's outside to do her business. She's also getting the hang of using a doggy door, although she still prefers having the door open for easy access. At night, Lulu sleeps in a cozy bed in the study or occasionally in a smaller bed in the bedroom. If she feels anxious, she'll let you know with a gentle howl until she feels secure again.
One of Lulu's favorite pastimes is chasing balls, though due to some stiffness in her hips and a bit of wear on her teeth, she needs to balance her ball-chasing with gentler activities. She would greatly benefit from engaging in nose work, herding, or other mentally stimulating activities that don't put too much strain on her joints. Lulu is currently taking Osteo Advanced joint supplements to help manage her stiffness, and a loving home that can provide her with massage therapy or hydrotherapy would be ideal.
Lulu is generally indifferent to other dogs on walks, preferring to focus on her surroundings and the adventure at hand. She does show some anxiety when encountering barking dogs behind fences, but she passes by without much reaction. In her foster home, she has shown that she prefers to be the only dog, as she becomes quite anxious around other dogs in close quarters.
Lulu is a well-behaved companion who listens to commands like "sit" and "stay," especially when her name is used. She's enthusiastic and curious, with a single-minded determination to explore her environment. Although she loves to be near her humans and enjoys affection, she's not the type to snuggle up on your lap. Instead, she prefers to rest close by, ready for the next adventure.
Car travel is not a problem for Lulu, although she may need a bit of assistance getting into the vehicle. Once inside, she remains calm and enjoys the ride. She's adaptable and can handle traffic noise and the hustle and bustle of a café, settling down calmly even when approached by strangers.
Lulu's ideal home is one where she can enjoy plenty of outdoor activities and receive the mental and physical stimulation she craves. She needs a family who can provide her with multiple walks a day and engage her in activities that keep her mind sharp and her body active. Although she can't be left alone for extended periods, she copes well with short absences and is always excited to see her humans return.
If you're looking for a loyal, active, and affectionate companion who loves to explore and enjoys life to the fullest, Lulu might be the perfect match for you. This wonderful dog has so much love to give and will make a fantastic addition to the right home.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

We look forward to receiving your application.
