On Hold
About Casper. Great for bike riding, running. Active boy
π Casper is a confident, boisterous, fun-loving boy who will suit a family experienced with young, untrained dogs. He has so much love to give and is a stunning young man with his custard coat and yellow eyes!
He's a loving kid who enjoys giving kisses, playing with anything he can get his paws on, and hanging out with other doggies.
Unfortunately, the home where he was born didn't teach him much so he's a bit jumpy but will learn quickly with obedience group training. He's not mouthy like other young dogs, just a bit all over the place π
Casper would be fine with another dog in the home but also fine in a home by himself if at least one parent works from home or is a stay at home person, he would be lonely and antsy by himself.
He hasn't officially been tested with cats but has shown no interest in them at his foster home where he can see them through a netted enclosure and at our shelter where he has spent time outside their pens - in these situations he's not stopped and even stared, he's just ignored them and gone about his puppy business so there's a high chance he'll be great with cats. We can test this on request.
With a bit of training Casper is going to be a wonderful family dog! Don't miss out on this uniquely stunning young character who's going to be a family's absolute best bud :D

UNABLE TO ADOPT BUT WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT OUR WORK?
You can help us rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs like Brady by donating to our organisation at the QR code in Brady's profile photos. Please scroll through the photos to find the QR code, hold your phone over it and it should take you to our secure fundraising page where you can select a once-off donation or weekly, fortnightly or monthly support payment. Every little bit helps us continue our work and keep our resources from being stretched to the limit. Alternatively please find other donation options below. Thankyou so much for your support!
π ABOUT OUR ORGANISATION
As well as working with dogs, Sunny Days runs Victoria's only specialised stray cat rehab facility on a rural property in Avalon, Vic. Our rehab centre operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is in constant demand due to the sheer number of cats born wild, and dogs no longer wanted.
Despite this demand, we have no source of ongoing funding. Unlike public pounds who enter into contracts with local councils to be the facility responsible for housing lost animals in that municipality, volunteer-run pounds like ours do not have the option to partner with a government organisation and have the running of the shelter funded - we are left to fund our work through our own pockets and community donations. Please see below for lots of secure ways you can donate to support our work.
π HOW YOU CAN HELP
We receive adoption fees, however our animals are adopted out less frequently than happens at other shelters and rescue organisations as our animals are with us for extended periods of rehabilitation. We rely on donations not only to help with immediate vet care when animals first come to us but also to keep them fed, parasite treated, vaccinated regularly and treated for illness or injury. You can donate to support our work by clicking the pink DONATE button on this page or via the alternate options below.

π OUR WORK WITH CATS
We take in full cat colonies, pregnant and nursing mothers, ophan kittens, FIV positive cats, and sick or injured cats. Cats are humanely trapped after being identified as un-owned; we don't take in domesticated cats and have extensive processes to ensure cats trapped are true strays as opposed to owned. We don't give cats deadlines to be socialised by or they'll be euthanised, we provide sanctuary for them for as long as they need.
π OUR WORK WITH DOGS
We take in dogs from community surrenders, owned arranged euthanasia which vets have intervened on, and greyhounds retired from or not suitable for racing. Most of our dogs are with us for an extended period of time to ensure we know them really well before putting them up for adoption, and have been assessed by professional dog trainers if not worked with extensively. We provide full discretion with adopters about dogs' health and behaviour and unlimited, 24 hour support to integrate adopted dogs into new homes, families and lifestyles.
