ollie has a very sweet temperament. He is happiest around humans, sitting beside you on the lounge or sleeping on the bed. He is a little wary of some men at first, and cowers slightly and pulls back. However, when they show him they are friendly, he relaxes. He is completely taken with the yellow squeaky ball and throws it and pounces on it happily for periods of the day. I had a sheepskin ball and two other yellow squeaky balls which he also loved. He doesn’t wait for you to throw the ball to him, but likes it when you do. He really enjoys his walks (two a day and a third short late evening toilet break walk). He is happy walking in the street or in the park, and goes up to other people and dogs. In the park, he enjoyed running with the other dogs (he was on a long extendable lead), and went up to dogs of all sizes, from the moment he arrived there, he was interested in running and joining in. He occasionally barked at one of the dogs, but more by way of saying play with me. He enjoys his food, and responds well to treats. He is ok on the lead, but he does pull and needs quite a bit of practice with heel. He was initially wary of the dog door, but after some cooked chicken was placed on the steps leading down from the door, within 48 hours he was using it happily. He is an ideal inner city dog, as he doesn’t bark incessantly at other dogs passing by – instead he barks occasionally at an unusual noise. Ollie will need brushing and his coat clipped regularly to keep him in tip top condition. I think ollie would be happy in a home with a person/s who worked from home; a semi-retired or retired couple who spent a reasonable amount of time at home; or possibly a family with children who were very gentle with him. Ollie is not suited to young children as he is a gentle soul and looking for calm environment. Ollie would benefit from having a doggy companion.
