About Richie
Meet Richie, a 15-month-old male Maltese x Poodle who's overflowing with charm. Richie is adorably bonded with his brother Buddy, and they've become the dynamic duo of our rescue. Richie might be a little shy and reserved, but don't let that demure personality fool you, he's just waiting for the perfect family to help draw out his sparkling spirit.
He's a bit anxious at times and takes some time to warm up, but with a little patience, this dashing little guy will abound in love and loyalty. He walks well on a lead, displaying his confidence and patience, though he may become a bit reserved if he gets anxious. A gentle voice and reassurance will quickly help Richie in such situations to realise all is well and carry on happily.
When it comes to canine companions, Richie is a bit timid around dogs apart from his brother Buddy. Cats appear to be a bit intimidating to Richie, making his ideal home one where he and Buddy are the only pets. As he continues to grow and flourish, he may become more at ease with other animals, given adequate positive exposure and experience.
Richie has an incredible fondness for treats and pats, those being his favourite things in the world. He's fond of enrichment tasks and loves to play, his enthusiastic tail wagging a testament to his joy. Given the chance, Richie could be the loving companion you've been waiting for, offering unending affection, devotion, and undeniable charm.
So if you're willing to give Richie a little time, a few treats, and lots of love, he'll reward you with the most loyal companionship and unlimited doggy cuddles. Remember, Richie and Buddy are a pair and have been each other's strength. They are therefore looking for a home where they can continue to be inseparable.
Medical notes
Richie has had a dental and a retained canine removed but has otherwise passed his vet check
Adoption details
Our adoption process is easy. You will receive a application for the animals you are interested in. Please full that in and send it back to us.
Even though you may be first to message, this does not always guarantee you will be chosen to adopt. By no means do we run on a "first in, first served basis". We aim to ensure that our animals are adopted into the most suitable home for them and the new family.
With all our animals, we go on what our vet has told us and what we believe the breed and age to be. We never guarantee the breed or age but take the best educated guess.
Please note: Our shelter is located in the Snowy Mountains. We are a 5 hour drive from Sydney and Melbourne and 2 to 3 hours from Canberra.
