About Calvin
Not available for interstate adoption
Must go to a home with at least one younger, friendly, playful and well-adjusted dog, no exceptions.
PROFILE AND NEEDS IN A HOME
Calvin is adorable, cheeky, and smoochy. He has a want to please attitude most of the time, but sometimes his puppy brain has him doing zoomies and playing up a storm with his toys.
His favourite activities are running about the yard with his siblings and mum, playing with his toys, and snuggle sessions with his foster carer.
Being only about 9 weeks of age, Calvin is not fully toilet trained yet, however is doing well, he will usually indicate when he needs to go potty, giving you time to take him outside to do his business. His new family must be prepared to continue his toilet training using only force-free and reward-based training methods. Advice can be given if needed.
His carer says he is an expert at cuddles and kisses, and she can sit and watch him play and explore new things all day.
Calvin is currently living with his mum, siblings, and a large breed dog. He has also met a friend's cat, and all of his interactions with the various animals he has met and live with have been very appropriate.
As Calvin is still only very young, he would be best suited to a home where his new family are not away from home for long periods of time.
Calvin MUST be rehomed with another younger friendly, playful and well-adjusted canine companion of around the same size who can help show Calvin how to dog.
Like all of our dogs, Calvin must have access inside at all times and be permitted to cuddle on the couch and sleep inside preferably in the bedroom.
Calvin will need a family committed to continuing his ongoing puppy training using only force-free reward-based methods and one where he can be included in activities where possible once he is fully vaccinated and not just left in the backyard.
Being a Terrier mix Calvin will need an active home with daily walks and adventures and his new owners will need to also provide him with daily mental stimulation.
Calvin's coat so far appears to be non-shedding, but we cannot guarantee this will always be the case. He will need regular brushing to keep his coat neat and will need professional grooming when he gets older.
If you would like to meet Calvin, please send us some details on yourself and the home you are able to provide including your dog/s and any other pets (if any), family members, lifestyle, exercise and mental stimulation you will provide, how often Calvin would be alone, where he will have access in the home, where Calvin would go if you went away and could not take him with you, ability to cover vet expenses and any other information you wish to provide so that we can see if Calvin is a good match.
Medical notes
The adoption fee includes vet checks, microchip, vaccinations and desexing. Calvin is too young to be desexed at this time and his new owner must be able to return Calvin to our vet in Beverly Hills Sydney for his third and final vaccination and desexing.
Calvin will also need regular professional grooming.
Adoption details
SAS will arrange a "meet and greet" with our rescue pet with suitable adopters. Prior to this meet and greet a short home visit will be carried out to check fencing, access inside and internal living areas of the home (not bedrooms). In some circumstances photos and videos can be provided.
We offer a two-week trial period if after the meet and greet we feel that the rescue pet and the prospective family are well matched.
