The first thing you will notice about Bidwell, is how striking he is and those beautiful eyes. In personality he is just a big goofy baby.
He is not going to love you on the 1st meet and greet, to quote Tim off MAFS he is a slow burn! He is nervous and anxious when greeting new people. But if you can just be a little patient you will be rewarded and it is worth it. We are not talking months, it's a few hours to a few days. Once he can trust you will get kisses on the face, cuddles in the bed and a little (well big) shadow around the house.
He is toilet trained, crate trained, sits before crossing roads, walks fairly well on a lead, lies down before getting his food, not a bolter out of the gate and overall, a good friendly boy. All of his manners are there, they just need some fine tuning or finishing school and consistent boundaries. He picks up new rules and commands very quickly, quite a smart boy.
We go for a big walk in the mornings (he definitely needs this to get some morning energy out) and then he is happy to potter around the house, chew a few toys and sleep the day away. Currently walks on a halti fairly well. He would make a good 5-10km running partner once his training is finished. You will need a thrower as he loves chasing the ball across a big space, it's beautiful to see how happy he is opening up for a big run and playing ball. Loves a car ride and hanging his head out the window to catch some wind in his ears.
He is cat friendly, curious but happy to leave them be. We sometimes find him stuck up the hallway because the cat has positioned himself in the middle of the hall and Bidwell is too scared to come back past him. Friendly with other dogs, currently residing with 3 other big dogs. He does have some resource guarding of food with some dogs. He has seen some cattle and happy to just walk on by and leave them be.
He has been left at home outside for about 5hrs with no issues at all or any destructive behaviour. He is still a puppy at heart so catering for any long periods alone with something to occupy him would be necessary. Just starting to show some cheekiness like stealing the shampoo bottle from the showers.
He does love the comforts that a home has to offer as you can see in photos. He thinks the couch is his bed during the day, despite multiple dog beds on the ground. He really does have a heart of gold and needs to live in a family that accept him as a full family member and give him lots of love.
