About Layla
Our amazing sweet and loveable little Heeler x now seeks her forever home At just 18 kilos Layla is the perfect little Aussie Cattle dog for the lovers of the Blueys of Australia.
What's not to love about Layla, she’s a very special girl who absolutely adores people, she's such a happy little ball of love with a great nature and a smile that can't help but brighten your day! Layla rarely stops wagging her tail, as long as she's by your side she's happy just to be in your company. Layla is still just a pup and has lots of energy to burn, but does super well at settling down when needed and has a great off switch, too! Layla for the most part has just been an easy dog to have around, she truly aims to please and is just gorgeous inside and out!! With a little bit of love and training Layla will thrive!
Layla loves her toys she’s quite happy to entertain herself throwing them around the place and then pouncing on them like they might just try to jump up and get away lol, she loves walks and cuddles on the couch, the closer she can get to you the better, she's a total love bug and will worm and wiggle her way into your lap for a belly scratch
Laya has shown to be quite social, she loves meeting new people on walks or at the house, she's very friendly and can get quite excited and may jump up initially to say hello if given the chance. She can be quite persistent when you are at her level, when she wants attention or affection she will even try to climb up on you to try and get as close as possible to give you a lick!
Layla has shown to have good manners for the most part, she appears to have a good base of training and is eager to learn or correct her behaviors. Layla can sit, and is learning to wait for her food, stay, she's learning “off” and “down” when she jumps up to say hello, and “on your bed” when it’s time to settle down for the night.
Layla is mostly relaxed on the lead, often falling back into a heel position and sticking close to her people, so close she may even trip you up once or twice lol, she can get excited and bark over wildlife and other dogs in excitement to say hi
She is quite hesitant to get in the car but is okay once in.
Layla needs to learn not to jump up to say hello, and needs to work on boundaries for personal space, she can also get a little mouthy in a playful way at times. Layla can be protective over her food. There is always room for improvement but Layla has a great base to work with especially as she is still only young!
Layla loves to play with her foster brother (3 yo male kelpie) and plays well, she’s usually the one to start things off lol and will play quite rough and hold her own or even try to dominate. She’s quite a confident young lady.
Not tested with cats.
Layla has been an absolute star when left alone by herself in the yard for longer periods of time, she entertains herself by playing with her toys and quietly and curiously exploring the yard or snoozing patiently awaiting her people to come home so she can greet them with the biggest, most happy welcome home, including lots of kisses. We have left her with a peanut butter lick and other balls or squeaky chew toys to play with and loves food/ kong type toys.
Layla has done some light digging when left alone but nothing excessive.
Layla enjoys a 30 minute walk daily, and a good session playing with her foster brother to help let out her energy!
Layla is doing very well with her toilet training, she knows to go outside to the command “toilet” and is very proud of herself when she does!
! She will happily jump on the couch or bed but is learning to wait for an invite up.
Layla would make a great addition to almost any home, ideally a home with plenty of room for her to run about in given her working dog nature and energy levels.
We think she would be okay in a home with or without another dog. A home with experienced dog owners who are patient and have time and energy to work with her to help her reach her full potential!
