About Tyson
Meet Tyson, an impressive, black Great Dane X Cane Corso looking for his forever home! At almost 2 years old, he may have filled out and physically done all his growing, but he’s still a bit of baby with lots of maturity to come yet.
Standing about as tall as a female Great Dane, he’s got a robust frame but is definitely a a gentle soul who craves affection and human connection.
Tyson’s favourite things are belly rubs, getting out with his person and playing fetch in the back yard.
Tyson has mastered some basic commands like sit, lay down, and shake paws when there is minimal distraction, and he loves to please. There is a long way to go before he can meet dogs calmly and his enthusiasm is likely to put off many dogs. Slow controlled meets are something he will need to learn to be able to socialise further and in particular with strange dogs. A doggy friend is not 100% out of the question but for Tyson to get the one on one a giant maturing dog needs, the existing dog in the home would need to have all their best behaviours down pat already and be extremely accepting of a massive bundle of energy in it's space.
Currently Tyson loves his hour morning walk before his human goes to work and this works beautifully for him. His needs help to brush up on his lose lead walking, particularly at the beginning of a walk when he’s itching to get going. He’d take a second outing or daily walk if it were on offer but can get by with a fun play, training session in the yard and a bit of fetch. With the right amount of exercise and attention, Tyson isn't destructive. He will alert you if someone is coming to the home but isn’t a barker and happy to welcome visitors and sneak a belly rub.
Tyson has been around school age children and done very well. He watches the neighbour’s cat pass by without too much commotion so we hold hopes that with clear boundaries he could learn to live with a savvy cat. To date Tyson has always been an outside dog. When he comes into the home to be with his new family, it will be a new phase of his training and we have no doubt he’ll be able to master inside manners before long.
His ideal home is with an experienced big dog owner who can provide him with the structure, guidance, and love he needs to thrive.
If you're seeking a loyal, affectionate companion with boundless potential, Tyson could be for you if you have the experience, patience, and dedication he needs right now.
