About Dougie - 1 Year Old Mixed Breed (Trial)
My name is Dougie, I’m just over 1 year old and I'm looking for my forever home.
I'm still learning about being part of a loving home, but what I've seen so far - I like! I need my human(s) to be very patient because sometimes I still get scared of fast movements, loud noises, new people and dogs. I need to be reminded to toilet outside - once I remember I'm happy to comply, but I sometimes prefer to use puppy pads inside. I know how to use the dog door because I watched my foster siblings.
Dougie loves:
• Stuffed toys
• Cheese
• Snuggling
• Gentle play
• Hair being brushed
• Little paddle pools
• Snuggling
• Exploring the yard
• Head & belly rubs
• Did I mention snuggling?
Dougie is a beautiful little boy who - even though he missed out on socialisation as a pup - has continued to make progress daily. It's been a genuine joy to see how far he's come in a very short amount of time.
Dougie is such a snuggly boy. He's low energy for a dog of his age, so is easy to entertain with gentle play. He prefers soft food, but he also likes snacking on kibble or harder treats throughout the day. He won't need haircuts but he does need an occasional brush which cuts down on shedding (and the vacuuming!)
Dougie will thrive in a quiet environment, with lots of encouragement. He loves the simple life. He's still learning to walk on lead, and is best walked in quiet areas. With encouragement and trust, he will continue to learn more about the world and build confidence, while being the ultimate snuggly companion.
FAQs:
Q. What is his breed?
A. Maybe some chihuahua in there but who knows
Q. Am I a good fit for Dougie?
A. The right person/people will have the patience and time to guide and love Dougie - he will pay you back with love and companionship as your little shadow. Seeing him gain confidence and learn about family is the ultimate reward. Because of his nervous disposition, he would be best in a home without small children, but also needs older kids and adults (and visitor's) to be mindful that he's still learning about living with the hustle and bustle of normal home life. Dougie can be an only dog (as long as he's not left to get lonely), or have a doggy sibling who is calm and mature. He's untested with cats and smaller pets, however with gentle introduction he may be ok - it's just an unknown thing at the moment.
Dougie is in foster care in Rutherford NSW and is available for adoption within NSW. Dougie's adoption fee is $700. He is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms and microchipped.
