Tribble and Critter

Tribble and Critter are stunning little floofs with gorgeous personalities to match.

They experienced a tremendous ordeal in their first few weeks of life, and their story of survival is nothing short of inspiring.

In short, kittens like these are the reason we do what we do.

HERE IS THEIR SURVIVAL STORY:

When Critter and her siblings were around three weeks old, they lost their mum to the hands of a cruel and heartless human. But that was just the beginning of their ordeal.

They had been born inside the roof of an apartment building, and when their mum did not return, they went looking for her... and fell into a crawlspace.
They became stuck inside the wall, crying for their mum day and night, desperate for food and water and becoming weaker with every passing hour.

Caring residents heard their distressed mews and soon called Sugar and Spice to help. Despite efforts to thwart our rescue mission (by the same person responsible for mumma cat) we prevailed, and were finally able to locate Critter and two of her siblings. With a bit of luck and a lot of resourcefulness, we freed them from the wall.

They had survived five long days without food or water.

But it still was not over.

The celebration of success was short-lived when, several hours after the liberation of the three, residents heard the faint cries of a fourth kitten.
Despite our best efforts, we were unable to locate this last kitten for several more days. On day eight, we were able to get her food and water, but it took another two to trap her.

In total, Tribble was trapped in a wall for TEN days.
We still do not know how she survived, but what we do know is that she is one tenacious little girl!

All of the kittens were emaciated and extremely close to death. They were also absolutely *terrified* of humans, and would spit and hiss and lunge every time they got a glimpse of one. (Tiny balls of fluff trying to look scary is much cuter than they intended, but we digress.) Their recovery was very slow, but bit by bit they came around.

The fact that all four survived (particularly Tribble) is almost unbelievable. We would say it is a miracle, but we feel that might be short-changing our incredible rescue team and the kittens' foster carer, who spent weeks nursing all four of them back to health.

Whatever the reason, the beat the odds and we are so happy that they are finally ready to find their forever homes!!

ABOUT TRIBBLE AND CRITTER:

Both of these fierce little fighters have come a tremendously long way and have learned to love and trust humans overall, but Critter can still be a little skittish at times, and she needs her sister to help build her confidence. This is why we are adopting them out as a bonded pair.

Tribble is as sweet as she is stunning. She loves pats and cuddles and will curl up on your chest and purr to her heart's content. She loves being next to her humans, gazing up at them lovingly with her gorgeous green eyes.
Though she can still be a little bit timid around new people, she comes out of her shell pretty quickly. It will likely take her a few days to adjust to a new house, but she'll be prancing and purring and playing in no time!

Critter is very shy but also very sweet. She takes a lot of her cues from Tribble, and she has started to truly enjoy scratches and pats when she is curled up next to a human. Critter rarely comes for cuddles on her own (she usually follows Tribble onto a human's lap) but considering the incredible progress she has made in just a short amount of time, we don't think it will be long. Less than two weeks ago she refused to even come out from under the couch when a human was in the room, so sitting with them is pretty huge in our books!

Both of these silly little floofs are very energetic and silly and love to chase ping pong balls and hunt pipe cleaners. They run and play and pounce and cuddle and do pretty much everything as a pair. But don't worry, their bond does not keep them from interacting with humans. In fact, quite the opposite. Together they are more confident and more playful and just all-around more adorable!

We know that asking people to take a bonded pair can be challenging, and even moreso when one (or both) is on the shy side.

Time and time again, shy rescue kittens get overlooked for more confident ones. Those like Tribble and Critter survive harrowing situations and beat all the odds... only to languish in care for months, if not more.

Yes, they are safe, but they are not rescued.
They still cannot fully settle and thrive.

No cat is *rescued* until they find a home.

Please give a shy kitten a chance.
They need you even more than most.
