About Charlie
We are seriously heartbroken for this beautiful girl
3 people offered to meet her
1. The dog was acting dominant which made Charlie extremely anxious - so not a good fit
2nd meet and greet - oh no sorry we are welcoming a cat now and our dog door won't fit Charlie
3. Never got back to us
This beautiful gentle girl is back up for adoption.
Hello, my name is Charlie and I'm looking for my forever humans.
I am a 1 year and 8 month old Miniature Poodle
I am came into care last year in a bit of a dramatic way.
The rescue was contacted by my owner (who is a breeder) and said that I was in a bit of trouble I was in labor and there was issues and my babies were born premature and I was not in a good way.
The rescue said of course yep they would take my premature babies and me into care (they said that I was part of the package). They were advised I was very sick and they didn't know how I would go.
Fast forward a few hours and the rescue had me and babies on board.
I came into care and one of the amazing carers took my babies and fed them and the rescue focused on me. They made sure that I was taken care of with fluid, medication, pain relief and lots of TLC.
I was not used to being in a family home so the first few days were a bit nervous for me and I was timid and unsure. The rescue has said I can still be timid on some things but given the chance to settle and get comfortable I blossom.
Once I’m comfortable, I will show you how much I love my humans, I will happily snuggle on the couch with you, snuggle into you and just be with you.
I would love a home where I am welcomed in and given some time to settle. I would love a home where there is someone home either working, shift work, doesn't need to work, stay at home parent etc etc. I have a bit of separation anxiety when I first go to a new home, but give me a routine and some time and I do really well. I do well with a routine and fun!
Since coming into care I have learnt so many fun things - I do enjoy living with another dog - once I’m comfy and settled I love to play and chase and do all the things that a young dog should do.
I can be nervous around some child so the rescue has said just to help me in life no children under the age of 5 in the home - I still can startle easily so young kids will probably not be ideal.
I enjoy playing with soft toys - I have a favorite red football toy and I love to play with that - chasing it or flicking it in the air - I am happy to play with another dog or by myself sometimes but would love another dog for company. I wouldn't do well with a really dominant dog as that would stress me, I do love playing with the two smaller breeds that live here.
I love going for a walk but still need help with learning some confidence around motorbikes, loud cars etc. I do get excited preparing for my walk but I think that is cause my foster fursibling goes nuts when our foster dad puts his shoes on, so it's kind of contagious. My foster dad says having a happy small breed dog helps me learn the ropes and I copy her behavior.
I am doing really well with my recall and no longer go and hide thinking that I am in trouble.
I still rush my food so a slow feeder is used. I don't have food aggression and if another dog wants to eat it I will walk away
I love to watch tv - especially shows with animals in it - but have been known occasionally to bark and give my opinion to them on their acting.
Oh yeah and I do have a small kleptomaniac habit on some things (I do like taking dirty clothes off the floor and lay on them)
I do also enjoy a good snooze preferably on my humans bed or the couch. I sleep on a dog bed with my humans but would happily sleep on the bed with you, I am allowed to cuddle up with my humans but not really allowed to lick them although I do try a lot.
I am toilet trained
I do have a coat that requires regular grooming so please make sure that you do remember that it’s a life time of grooming.
I am looking for that forever home that will love me and I can love you – are you that home?

Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. ** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
