About Freddie
Introducing Freddie!
Freddie is a Maltese x Poodle born 28th February 2023.
Freddie was transferred to us from another rescue group who were assisting an owner to rehome some of their animals. We were able to take five males from them.
Given their history they haven't had a lot of human interaction & they are quite timid around new people. While they have settled fairly quickly with staff & one of our volunteers, they will need a patient owner who is willing to help them continue to gain their confidence with humans. As they are so timid we are recommending homes without young children as they will be too overwhelmed and lose all the progress they've made. These dogs have never been on lead before, which means they've never gone for walks or adventures, so they will need lots of love, patience, gentle guidance & training.
Once Freddie is comfortable with you, he becomes very playful & excitable. He's still learning how to "dog" but his enthusiasm is unmatched.
Freddie tested well with small & calm dogs, however he is very scared of dogs larger than him (even if they're calm). We have found Freddie to be more confident when he's around other small dogs and feel he would be best suited to a home with one of his previous housemates or with another small, calm existing dog at home. If you have a small dog at home, we'd need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before he can go home.
Freddie showed no interest in cats, however he did appear to be slightly scared of them. Please note that our cat testing is done through an enclosure & this reaction may vary when there is no barrier between them.
Freddie is untested with pocket pets at this time.
Freddie has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety while being at the facility. As long as he has a doggy friend to keep him company he's happy.
Freddie would thrive in a home where he is included as a part of the family.
Freddie's adoption fee is $500 and includes his desexing and lifetime registration.
Freddie has been treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Freddie is looking forward to meeting you and he is currently located in East Maitland.
Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
