About Archie
Hi
My name is Archie and i am a 5 month old dachshund
I came into care thru no fault of mine from the breeder and i am now looking for my furever home.
I have come in a bit timid and needing to get some confidence - I may not be the first to push thru in a group and demand a pat - but when I'm comfortable and feel safe I am a awesome little guy to have around.
I am looking for a home where they will give me the time to settle and to be happy understanding that at this stage in life I'm not all about the cuddles and being on top of you like some pups are - I just didn't get taht when I was growing up.
However my foster mum says give me time and I will show my true personality - i can be cheeky when comfortable and I can be a great couch buddy but in my own space.
I currenlty live with kids and while I am fine with them, being picked up and carried or hugged will make me nervous - if they let me come to them naturally all is good. I do like to snuggle up on the couch or the bed with kids but at my own ace.
Now i might sound like the easiest dog to have but if you give me some time i do settle and it's worth it!
The rescue believes that i need to go to a home with at least one other dog - i love to run and play with them thru the house and outside - dashies especially as we can dart in and out of things and our floppy ears can flap in the breeze as we race past you. (My foster mum says it will also help with my confidence).
I am currently with other dogs and love it!
I am not tested on cats but my foster mum says I would definitely respect them as they would be bigger than me!
I love being able to have access to inside and outside and love being able to go out into the garden thru the day and have a good run around I am good with other dogs however I would not do well being locked outside 8+ hours a day, I definitely need to be part of a family.
If you worked from home I am more than happy to have a dog bed in your office and just keep you company while you mutter about your work colleagues but if you go off to work that is fine too - i will sleep and entertain myself while your gone, as long as i have at least one other dog furbaby to hang with.
Also just need to make sure I go to a home with kids who understand they can't carry me as I have a long spine and don't want to be dropped or hurt.
I am working on my house training and my foster mum says we are about 97% there

Complete the following adoption enquiry link

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $100) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
