Hello world! My name’s Tank and I am a 10/10 guy. Like all good dogs, I love treats, cuddles, and enrichment games. My owners, experiencing homelessness, had to surrender me to a local facility but luckily when my time was nearly up, Off the Chain K9 Rescue Qld stepped in to save me!
Not to waffle on about myself but I should add that I am clever and very well-behaved; my foster mum crate trained me in two days and I learnt 'stay' and 'bed' in just a few more days after that - guess that deserves a treat or two, am I right?! Being a food-oriented doggo I am very easy to train. I also take my treats like the refined gentleman that I am; no snatching treats around here! I know: here, sit, down, stay, wait, inside, outside, bed, crate, leave it, and out. I am house trained and will wait by the back door to politely let you know that I need to use the restroom. It doesn't take much to look this dashingly handsome but I do prefer to keep on top of my beauty sleep and happily stay my crate for 8hrs+ overnight.
I enjoy spending my days exploring the yard and napping, or inside in the aircon to escape the heat. I don't enjoy playing with toys but I looove to play enrichment games; my favourite it seek and eat where my carer hides treats for me in an area for me to find. I live with a small, older dog who keeps me company and am good at following the boundaries that they set. I also live with several funny looking dogs which my foster carer calls "cats" but I am not a big fan of them. I am understandably not a fan of travelling cars and worry that I'm going to be abandoned again 😢 I would love for my new family could help build positive associations with the car to build my confidence. An adventure out and about once a week where I get to sniff and explore with you or possibly even trips that involve food would be great!
So, what am I looking for? Considering what I have to offer I’m a dog of very few needs. I just want a family with lots of love and food, as well as decent fences to keep me safe at home (but I mostly care about the love and food part). I really the perfect package if I do say so myself...
If you fit the bill then please apply to meet me - you won’t be disappointed! Love Tank xx
Medical notes
I have recently recovered from heartworm. My rescue gave me the works and I handled it like a trooper and made a wonderful recovery! I shouldn't have any future health concerns or complications due to my treatment, but as with ANY dog, it is important my owner commits to monthly heartworm preventatives for the duration of my life to continue my protection. An alternative is the yearly heartworm injection available from vets. My heartworm treatment was finalised in January 2024 and I have recovered well.
My owner will need to commit to a heartworm antigen test being completed in July 2024. Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld will pay for this to be done at your local clinic, and this test is required as part of your adoption agreement. It is vital that we ensure Tank has been completely treated from his heartworm burden, and that we can see he is receiving the appropriate preventatives once in the new home- and this simple blood test will give us confirmation of those things. Feel free to message us with any questions relating to this.
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate and microchip number implant details.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
