About Charley
Charley has now been in shelter for 6 months.
Surrendered to us as an undersocialised puppy who had grown bigger than her family had wanted, it was quickly apparent that her needs as a youngster had not been met & she was incredibly fearful of everyone. It took us a week to just be able to just touch her. She had a very challenging 1st month in shelter & it took hours of staff & volunteers' time just sitting quietly with her in order to help build her trust & confidence.
Slowly, she started to make some friends thanks to the dedication of shelter staff & volunteers. Once Charley likes & trusts you, you have a very loyal & affectionate friend for life!
Charley is looking for a very specific home:
She needs someone who understands that she may still be fearful of certain people & situations & she needs patience & understanding when faced with these situations.
Charley is not a fan of cats. She also prefers medium to large sized dogs as play-mates & her play style is quite rambunctious!
Charley LOVES toys & water! She enjoys decapitating stuffed toys & catching water from hoses.
Charley needs daily exercise, physical & mental enrichment. She walks very nicely on her harness & lead.
She will not thrive being left alone in a back yard all day. It is vital that she be welcomed into the family home & be allowed to live inside & be a much loved member of the family. She deserves to be loved & she will give it back ten-fold.
Charley jumps up for hugs. If you don't want a jumpy dog then Charley is not the girl for you. She also likes to roll in smelly things then jumps up to give you a hug & a slobbery kiss.
We are being very careful about where we place Charley for adoption. She has been on a long journey & we owe it to her finding the perfect home for her. We know it's out there!
