About Yoshi
Please meet Yoshi who is a very special boy.
He is deaf but don’t let the fact he is hearing impaired put you off.
adopting this sweetheart – this little guy is a pocket rocket and just like his namesake he boings around the yard doing zoomies with his chosen toy.
Owning a deaf dog is great – he wont judge you for your taste in music or if you like to bop away and sing badly to something like Tay-Tay or the Bee Gee’s! He is looking for his “Mario”, a best mate to hang around with and be by your side for all your adventures.
You will need to learn doggy sign language and have a clear routine; he thrives on consistency. Yoshi is treat motivated and a fast learner and has quickly learnt to sit and drop through hand signals.
Yoshi is a very energetic boy and loves other dogs, a play mate that can match his energy would be ideal. As he is deaf he can’t hear when he’s being too rough so a larger playmate would be better.
He loves to run around the backyard and really enjoys his walks. He walks well on the lead, he is a little excited and pulls slightly for the first few minutes but soon settles into a lovely walk, he thinks Sniffaries are the best.
He checks all the mail posts and leaves his reply (frequently). When meeting other dogs on walks Yoshi is polite and well mannered.
Yoshi must never be off leash without being in a secure enclosed area as he cannot hear you call him. Yoshi will need someone patient and understanding to take him on, he is a gorgeous dog who wants nothing more than to snuggle up with you on the couch and give him belly rubs.
He will require ongoing behavioural training to bring him up to speed, lucky he is a very fast learner!
Yoshi would be most suitable to a home where he can be the centre of attention, a home where he is the only dog is preferable otherwise a home with another high energy medium-large sized dog who can handle this little rascal.
