About Mia
Introducing Mia!
Mia is an German Shepherd born 1st October 2022.
Mia was brought into the facility as a very underweight stray. She only weighed 19.9kg upon her arrival which is slowly increasing each day & she is now up to 21.9kg. She still has a long way to go on her weight gain journey and she'll continue to need several small meals each day until she is back to full health. With Mia being in such awful condition, we got her owner to surrender her for rehoming. Her surrender profile states she is not house trained as she was kept outside only, however her previous owner had her inside & out. She is good with other dogs but not cats and she shows no separation anxiety being in a home. Mia can be protective of her owners and she would suit a family with older children.
While her surrender profile states she is good with other dogs, our testing shows she is very scared of other dogs and showed no interested in meeting them. While we feel she could be more comfortable being an only dog, we are open to doing meet & greets with any existing dogs you have at home.
Mia has shown signs of prey drive towards chickens so we are recommending a home with no cats or pocket pets.
Mia has shown no signs of food aggression while being at the facility however she has shown signs of separation anxiety. We feel this will settle in a home & is purely based on the stressful nature of the kennel environment as both of her previous homes said she was fine being home alone.
Mia would thrive in a home where she is included as a part of the family.
Mia's adoption fee is $450 and includes her desexing and lifetime registration.
Mia has been treated for flea and worms and is up to date with her vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
