Zip - 8 Month Old Spoodle (Trial)

While I’m a natural fun-lovin Zip, I’m a little out of sorts at the moment because I’m still acclimatising to the change of environment. You see, I’ve grown up hanging with my pack and having a great time. Humans are great. I love them. But I’m still a little scared and shy around them, even though I adore pats and snuggles. It’s so lovely to sit on or near my humans watching the weird thing with pictures on the wall. I almost instantly go into zen-meditation mode.

I’m looking for humans who are going to be super patient with me as I adjust to family life and living in a home. I don’t understand where I’m supposed to go to the toilet yet, but I’m trying really, really hard to please my foster family. I’m still young, so I’ve got a lot to learn.

I’ll probably feel more confident if I had another dog to show me what it’s like to live in a home with humans; and what we’re meant to do when they go out. I get along with most dogs but I like playing and snuggling with dogs around my own size. I have a very fine build, so I’d hate to get crushed or bullied by a big.

Walking on a lead was really weird, but I’m getting used to that. And I love it when my humans throw a little yellow ball at the park so I can chase it. When I take it back to them, I get a little cheer of encouragement. That makes me happy, so I do it again… until I get distracted by my buddies.

While I like chilling with my large 4-legged clan, it’s time to move on. I’m ready to be totally indulged and pampered so I can become the bestest snuggle bunny. I have a tail that whips around like a helicopter to show my humans how pleased I am when they happy-talk at me. And I’m getting braver and braver every day at accepting pats and cuddles.

I really hate it when I’m left alone or not in touching distance of my primary human. I’m sure once I get fully settled into to my forever home, I’ll start to enjoy quiet time and my own company – it just may take a while.

My foster mum had to give me an all-over, number 1 shave to fix the atrocious haircut I had on arrival. It was probably my fault - I wouldn’t sit still so the hairdresser (who wasn’t very good!) gave up halfway through. I feel so much better now that my dreadlocks and tangled mane is gone. Everyone says I’m going to be super handsome when my luscious black locks grow back.

In summary, my perfect forever home would be:
- where humans are home almost all of the time, at least initially.
- where my forever family understand my needs, and appreciate that I’ll take time to adjust and learn home life.
- where someone as time to commit to my training and provide lots of love and attention.
- with the company of just one other friendly, playful, and non-aggressive dog.
- a calm and stress-free home with no loud, scary noises.
- a home that is stable and permanent.
- a home with no small children.
- where I get at least one good outing and exercise session, plus regular doggy social time
- a yard to have a little run that is 100% escape-proof for a little dog who is good at slipping through gaps and scurrying over small fences.

IMPORTANT: Zip has had zero training and will need some time to adjust. He will require lots of patience and understanding to transition from kennel life to living inside a home. It will take time for him to build confidence around new people. Consider his suitability to your home before submitting an adoption application.

Zip is in foster care in Mayfield, NSW area. They are NOT currently available for interstate adoption. The adoption fee is $800.00 and they are desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms and microchipped.

This organisation's adoption policy is moderate. What does this mean?
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire: https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
(2) If the questionnaire is approved we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've applied for.
(3) After that we will arrange for you to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home, nearby park or your home.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
