About Murphy
Hold onto your hats – its time for Murphy to find his family.
This precious boy has beaten all the odds and we cannot wait to find his happy ever after ending.
So lets do this ….
Firstly it is important to know that Murphy is a young wolfhound x and isn’t yet a year old.
He is growing like a weed right now and we do expect him to be a large dog once he is all grown.
Murphy “McStinkypants” arrived six weeks ago weighing 11 kilos and smelling like 10 polecats.
A huge battle with parvo followed but we are just delighted to say he is now a happy and health boy – currently weighing in at 24 kg.
He also now smells like fresh daisies ( sort of) and as such is know kown simply as 'Murphy'.
He is an absolutely beautiful natured boy and has shown no sign of aggression with food, cats, other dogs.
The only thing he seems to still be wary of, and vocal towards, is tall, young males.
He's getting better, but it does appear something happened to traumatise him and the young male in the house is working patiently and consistently with him to overcome this fear.
He loves to play with other dogs, and has been enjoying the dog park, he is okay on the lead but this does still need some work as he is very excited to be out and about on adventures.
He loves his humans and is fine with young children the carers 18 month old grand-daughter orders him 'outside', and he obeys happily – a clever boy and would be easily trainable to go beyond the usual commands.
He's a great guard dog and alerts when someone comes into the house but is not a nuisance barker.
Murphy would make a great family dog, or a companion dog for a solo owner or older couple.
He travels well in the car, no car sickness.
Murphy is still learning about the big world and its different smells and sounds but he's adjusted well to his suburban life.
He has his wolfie furry coat but he doesn't seem to shed much at all.
He youthful exuberance of a puppy so he would need to either have a yard to run around in or someone to walk him every day.
He loves toys and good quality chew toys would be a must for him.
Murphy is an absolute treasure with a million dollar smile – imagine waking up to that face every day.
If you think you could be a perfect match for Murphy, please send us a detailed message telling us all about yourself and the wonderful life he could share with you.
We do expect a lot of interest in Murphy and do need you to understand there will only be limited meets with the best matches on paper.
He is in foster care at Buddina on the Sunshine Coast.
His adoption fee is $795 and he is not available for interstate adoption.
