About Riley
💙 Introducing Charming Riley 💙
HOUSEHOLD- Riley has shown us that he does not cope in a noisy environment. He becomes stressed when multiple dogs are barking and with noises such as loud banging.
Away from the hustle and bustle of our pound environment, he is a completely different behaved boy. Riley is attentive, relaxed and an affectionate young man.
Riley would be best suited to a dog experienced household where they have an understanding of the needs of his breed. An acreage or plenty of opportunities to be active, is essential for Riley's well-being.
ON-GOING TRAINING- True to his breed, Riley is an inquisitive, intelligent boy. On command he will sit, drop and come when called. He enjoys learning and being engaged with his handler.
ON LEAD- Riley doesn’t overly pull when he is walking on a lead and remains calm for the duration of his walk. He enjoys his opportunities to walk with our volunteers and is a wonderful walking companion.
PLAY/TOYS- Riley loves toys and playing tug’o’war with his handler. At times he does need correction when he gets mouthy from overexcitement. During play Riley likes to give lots of kisses and enjoys belly rubs.
OTHER DOGS - It appears Riley has received limited socialisation with other canine friends as he can be dominant and doesn’t have the skills to introduce himself in a welcoming way.
When Riley has had time to decompress and a introduction that is controlled, we have seen Riley is capable of interacting and calmly walking parallel with another dog.
It may be possible for Riley to be rehomed with another canine friend but that would be dependent on his new owners experience and the outcome of a meet & greet with his potential resident canine buddy to see if they are compatible.
At this time Riley is not suitable for off leash areas.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS - Riley has shown no outward interest towards our facility cats. He was introduced to them and appeared uncaring. Even when one of the cats showed a dislike for him, Riley gave a little bark and jumped back wanting to move away quickly.
CARE/GROOMING- Riley will require regular brushing and a wash when needed. Care will need to be taken when brushing this gorgeous boy as he gets startled initially when you show him the brush but he relaxes overtime.
EXERCISE- Being a working breed, Riley does require regular exercise and mental stimulation. He needs to stay active and be taken to different outdoor settings to keep him active and content.
BREED - Blue Cattle - DOB 22/9/22
Riley is located at our Erina Shelter and his $500 adoption fee covers: desexing, lifetime registration, microchipping, current vaccination, flea & worming treatments.
If you have a soft spot for a gorgeous cattle boy and would love a loyal, smart companion, then please lodge your adoption interest for Riley.
