About Derrick rsta011512
Meet Derrick, a handsome senior gentleman with a distinctive majestic aura. He's a captivating presence with an ageless spirit and a love for exploring the world from a broad perspective - particularly when it's up high.
Derrick is still spry despite his years, demonstrating a strength, agility, and quick wit that would put younger felines to shame. However, his love for food rivals his love for exploring, so rest assured tasty treats are always on his agenda!
This independent gentleman appreciates his personal space and likes affection on his terms. He's profoundly intelligent and a quick learner, which means he can adapt to new environments with a bit of patience and time.
While not a lap cat, Derrick wishes for a quiet household where he can bask in the companionship of his family from a respectful distance. He would be more than happy to share a peaceful afternoon by your side or offer you company while you read a book or enjoy a cup of tea.
Derrick is a gentleman that requires a little understanding and patience as he adjusts to his new environment, but once comfortable, his majestic persona and delightfully unique character shines through.
His ideal living situation would be a quiet home, one without other pets or young children, where he can enjoy the serene life he adores. Derrick would make a fantastic companion for someone who loves felines for their independent spirit and unique personalities, finds joy in their company and looks forward to mutual respect and beautiful bond.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
