About Geralt STA011587
Meet Geralt, a success story of resilience and courage, displaying an incredible ability to heal both physically and mentally. Geralt’s story doesn’t define him, but it does make him special. Now, positive and learning to love and trust, Geralt is an amazing guy ready to embark on life's next adventure.
Geralt came to us a terrified and angry stray, who has come a long way since we first met him. He's healed beautifully, thanks to our amazing veterinary team's extensive care. Geralt's comfort was prioritised, from treating his puncture wounds after being attacked to major dental work to ease his eating troubles.
Geralt, being FIV+, must live solely indoors, but don't let that make you think he's not an adventurer at heart. He loves watching the world from windows and is delighted by casual bird-watching. His enhanced indoor life suits his gentle personality and allows him to be the centre of attention.
From his Foster Home
Geralt was such an incredibly scared boy when he came and took a while to feel safe. He was given plenty of time to do so. Geralt seemed to trust our house cats quite quickly once introduced and was/is keen to observe and more often now partake in play with them. I think a household with 1 other friendly, moderately active cat would suit and help grow his confidence. I would suggest feeding in another room if with another cat as he is so food motivated.
A routine household with adults and teenagers would be fine just not young children as sudden movements and loud noises / voices spook him. Geralt since being with us loves time on the couch (and is ok sharing with humans more recently) and sometimes enjoys to sleep on my bed (with or without me) where he looks super sweet.
I would describe Geralt as quietly curious and a big softy. We actually think he looks a bit like a teddy bear! He is pretty low maintenance and does enjoy routine and quiet (although vacuum cleaner doesn’t seem to bother him). Seeks out touch and human interaction more every day. He will quietly meow when he’s hungry and quietly purr when he is happy being touched. Of course, Geralt will need lots of time and patience in his new home.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
