About Ruby - 5 Month Old German Shepherd X Staffy
Meet RUBY! Ruby is a 5 month old, female, German Shepherd cross Staffordshire puppy who has the most intelligent, playful and gentle nature.
Ruby is a very healthy and pretty puppy who has been raised in a home environment with two young children (aged 3 & 4). She has been very well socialised with other puppies and adult dogs (small and large) and gets along well with them all. She's met lots of people and is friendly and affectionate with them. During moments of excitement, she often gives a little jump however quickly responds to pats down at her levels to eliminate the jumping.
Ruby will grow up to be a medium dog. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. Ruby loves to impress and is able to sit, lay down and wait, on command. She oozes intelligence and will be the perfect obedience student! All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training. Ruby LOVES to walk most mornings and/or evenings, she is very inquisitive and enjoys exploring her local area. Ruby is learning to walk on the lead. She can pull as she becomes excited by the smells of her surroundings however does respond well to using treats to refocus. We suggest using a harness for walks.
It would be a big plus if you have a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for Ruby, however she would thrive within a family environment with children, she is very gentle with children. If you don't have another dog to keep her company, then there needs to be someone in the household that doesn't work full time. While Ruby isn’t allowed on furniture within her foster home, she loves nothing more than snuggles with her humans.
As is normal for puppies her age, Ruby sometimes engages in digging and chewing behaviour, but she is easily redirected from these with toys or treats. Ruby LOVES to cool down by running through the sprinkler with her human foster children.
Ruby needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. She is crate and toilet trained. She is also very calm during car rides.
She will be wonderful family dog and is suitable for children 3 years and older. She is very tolerant and enjoys cuddles, affection and playing catch and tug-o-war.
You need good fencing with no small gaps. She can't go to rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire).
Ruby’s adoption fee is $600 which includes her desexing when she is old enough. It also includes her first two vaccinations. She has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped.
Ruby is in foster care in Lochinvar, NSW. Since she is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock) plus Central Coast and Sydney. She'll need to be returned to one of our approved vets for desexing when she's 6 months old.
