About Charlie Brown
Charlie Brown is a very sweet and quiet British Bulldog. He is a happy boy who has requested a loving home that includes cheese and a human that accidentally drops food. He is not overly keen on stairs so would prefer minimal steps or a human who would like to pick up him up.
He is still a puppy so can be very exuberant. He lives to run and play with other dogs.
He gets along very well with other dogs, cats, children and people.
Medical notes
Charlie was born with Spina bifida. He has had surgery to try to prevent it getting any worse but he has partial fecal incontinence. His sphincter control is only partial.
He is urinary continent ( he knows when he needs to pee and pees outside).
He mostly poops when he’s sleeping - he sleeps on the tiled verandah in his foster carers house and it’s easily hosed off each morning. It’s when he relaxes he looses control. Running around the house awake and normal he does not drop poop. Warning - do not let him sleep in the couch without a nappy.
We just gave him run around the house for a few hours then outside for a nap.
He is a brachycephalic breed. All suffer from BOAS in some way, either minor or severe. They are always at risk of boas ( brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome)becoming clinical- creating difficulty breathing. We expect you to have a complete understanding of the condition and discuss the potential surgical, environmental and medical modifications you may have to do for this condition with your vet before you apply for this dog. It is also a excellent idea to take advantage of the trial period to have your vet check over the dog and give you more pointers on this breed related issue and the expectations for their care and management.
