Bowzerino is a happy, enthusiastic and very energetic young man who’s always up for a bit of mischief and adventure! He’s sweet, friendly, very intelligent and loves company.

Young at heart, Bowzerino is cheerful with firm ideas on what he wants to do. He’s always up for action and curious about the world. He loves a game and is a keen tree climber especially if there’s quarry to be found. He is still learning about boundaries and personal space, so Bowzerino will need a firm and disciplined, yet kind hand to continue his education. His new owner will need to be patient yet resolute and dedicated. He’s a very quick study, but will test the rules if not applied consistently.

Bowzerino is loyal, loving and affectionate and will follow you around the house or join you on the couch for a snuggle. He’s currently fostered with a cairn terrier and a kelpie and doesn’t mind sharing personal space with them or a bit of “rough & tumble” to burn off energy. He sleeps through the night in the bedroom with his pack and knows how to navigate a doggy door.

He is not for the faint hearted though. As a terrier and beagle mix you get the benefit of a dedicated sniffer and tracker. Bowzerino is not to be tempted by, or kept with, small animals. Indeed, Bowzerino is not for first time dog owners, so previous experience with terriers is required. He will need a secure yard and kept on a lead in public places at all times as his nose will lead him afar. Bowzerino also has an allergy that makes his skin a bit itchy, so he’s on a daily maintenance dose of medication to keep it at bay.

On a positive note, Bowzerino is a fabulous, loving dog and will thrive under the care of a devoted, thoughtful and experienced owner. This includes being at home as often as possible. Ongoing training including walking calmly on a lead (he’s currently being walked on a halti), and a little less exuberance in the street, will be necessary to ensure he reaches his full potential as a wonderful, loyal companion. He would make an exceptional tracking, agility or games dog.

He definitely loves his foster siblings and is very social, but would probably be best in a single dog family for now, so he can focus on training and you. He needs to be part of the family, which means that he needs to live in the house and share your life. He will return your love tenfold.
