About Franc
Franc is a dynamite puppy who is looking to find his perfect forever home. Please ensure you read his whole profile before applying as he does have some particular requirements.
Franc is a toy poodle who came into care with a few litter mates. He was surrendered due to the previous owner being unable to rehome the puppies and they were getting older and becoming a bit much for him to handle. They were well taken care of and were provided necessary vet care prior to their arrival into care. However, due to a lack of exposure for the first many months of his life, Franc came into care a timid and flighty dog. His foster carers have an amazing home environment, lots of dog experience and have put a great deal of effort into building his confidence - which is paying off! At home, he is Mr Confident and LOVES playing with his humans or the other resident dogs. He has settled into the day to day routine and has a lot of personality for such a small dog. He loves to play with toys and is very affectionate with his carers. Out and about, he has built up a lot of confidence and is starting to love his daily outings, but does tend to bark at anything that startles him or is new to him. His carers are working on his engagement and are continuing to expose him gently to the big wide world. His new owners will need to be experienced with dog behaviour like this to ensure he continues to progress and doesn’t regress into one of those annoying little dogs that barks at everything and causes everyone to rolls their eyes at as they walk past!
Franc is very dog social. He has been living with two other small breed dogs and his favourite thing to do is play with them in any way he can, whether that be chase or bitey face. During down time, you can find Franc curled up with the other dogs for a nap. He has met dogs out and about and while he can bark at the occasional other dog while on leash, off leash he is very friendly and happy to meet other dogs. His carer has said he doesn’t have the best doggy etiquette or skills yet, so if the carers dogs tell him enough play time, he doesn’t understand. This means, he needs to not only be rehomed with another small, playful dog, but he needs owners who will be able to see when their current dog has had enough and advocate for their dog by telling Franc that play time is over. Due to being a puppy, his new owners will need to continue his socialisation, preferably in the form of play dates or social walks with other known friendly dogs as he doesn’t have the social skills for places like a dog park yet.
Franc is a very smart and inquisitive boy. His carers have been hard at work teaching him his basic training which is coming along well. He is toilet trained and uses a doggy door; however, being a puppy, his new owners will need to ensure he is managed properly in his new home while he settles in. He travels well in the car and sleeps through the night in his crate in the carer’s bedroom, only waking you up if he needs to toilet. Franc is a bit like a shadow and loves to be with his people. His carers have been building up his independence; however, he will need someone home most of the time, especially during the settling in period as he will currently cry if left alone. Being a poodle, Franc has a high maintenance coat which requires daily brushing and regular grooming. He will need an owner who can continue to meet his high grooming requirements, understanding both the time and financial obligations.
Although Franc is small, cute and loves to cuddle up on your lap, he is still a young, energetic and intelligent puppy, so will need owners who can keep up with his physical and mental needs. He is not suitable for someone looking for a lap dog for an elderly person. He has met a few kids while in care and was a bit nervous around them, but showed no aggression. His carers feel while she would prefer him in an adult only home, he would be ok to live with children as long as interactions were managed and the adults had enough time to continue his development with the big wide world. Franc will need to go on walks every day and be provided with a high quality diet. He will also need to be allowed inside as part of the family and provided a bed inside to sleep on at night time.
Franc is just the most amazing little puppy who has been brought up in a loving and experienced foster home, so he is well on the way to being an amazing doggy citizen. If you are missing a little curly fluff ball on your couch, then fill out the application form on our website and please include plenty of extra detail about your home and the type of lifestyle you can provide him to stand out from other applicants. Please note: due to the expected number of applicants, we will only be shortlisting a small number of the best sounding applications for a phone interview.

This puppy will be adopted out under a desexing contract that will require the dog to be desexed by a given age. The cost of desexing will be included as part of the adoption fee. A $250 desexing bond will be payable in addition to the adoption fee and will be refunded upon proof of desexing. This process is further discussed with successful applicants.
Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
