About Bert
Meet Bert, a patient and oh-so-lovable Boxer x Staffy. Look into Bert's eyes, and you'll see an introspective soul.
Bert is no stranger to adversity; he appreciates patience and space, responding to tender care with a gentle acceptance that will warm your heart. Treat him with trust, respect, and perhaps a few high-value treats, and before you know it, you'll have a loyal companion by your side.
Peace and calm are key to Bert's happiness. He would be best in a household that respects his personal space and provides an environment with minimal chaos. Preferably, any children in the home should be over fifteen and understand the delicate balance of adoring a dog without infringing upon his needs. If there is another dog in the family, a calm and respectful companion would be the best match for Bert.
Bert is an obedient quick learner who's eagerly motivated by a desire to make his people happy. Show him what needs to be done, and he takes it in stride, adapting with a determination that's inspiring. He basks in the comfort of quieter, familiar spaces, and although new sounds and faces can make him anxious, consistent and supportive socialization is gradually growing his confidence.
Bert boasts a special knack for getting along with other calm dogs but may react to any dog displaying overt aggression. Hence, a strong handler on walks would be preferable. Cat lovers, fret not! Bert is fine with cats, albeit he may need a watchful eye when interacting with feline friends initially. Best keep chickens, rabbits, and Guinea pigs at a safe distance, for Bert does have a strong prey drive for them.
Adventurous walks, ball-fetching sessions, and peaceful play with soft toys - these are just a few of Bert's favourite things. You'll notice Bert is an excellent playmate, understanding commands, and demonstrating an impressive recall. He is content with a walk or two and some playtime, after which he will happily sit by your side, finding joy in the simple solidarity of your presence.
Overcoming one of his greatest challenges—separation anxiety—will require dedication. Bert isn't an enthusiast of solitude and would thrive best in a home where there's always someone around. He also needs secure fencing to curb his occasional fondness for fence jumping.
Welcome Bert into your home, and watch this timid boy grow into a confident companion who will reward your patience with love and loyalty.
