About Mistie
With a Smile like Scooby Doo and a love of Belly Rubs , Treats and couch snoozing our simply stunning Great Dane x the big goofy and super loveable Mistie is certainly not one to scroll past ……
Introducing the gorgeous Mistie, the Great Dane X who is 42 of pure love! Mistie is a big love bug and relishes spending time with her humans or other doggy friends. She is also a big chiller and is happy hanging by herself in the yard, as long as there is something for her to do, like a bone to chew, toys to play with or a Kong with treats to puzzle over. Mistie isn't a big barker, but will give a cautionary woof if she hears an odd sound that she’s not used to or might join in if the neighborhood doggy choir is in session. Being only 18 months old, Mistie is still a puppy at heart and consequently can be full of beans from time to time. She loves to play and run around with doggy or human friends and doing big zoomies in the yard. She is also good with bigger kids that have good dog sense having been in foster care with kids over 10 years We have not had her around small children but we feel if they have good big dog experience there will be no issues Mistie is also very happy to travel in the car, happily jumping into the boot (as long as she fits), eagerly awaiting a new adventure. She is untested with cats and other small furry animals.
As mentioned before, Mistie absolutely loves spending time with her humans. This includes playing in the yard or cuddling up on the couch for pats. She also loves doggy company. Having grown up with other dogs and also having just had a litter of puppies herself, Misitie is used to having other pooches around to play with and for company. The perfect forever home for her would have another dog to play with. Misite is also quite partial to treats including pigs ears, bones or anything she can sink her teeth into really. She’s even happy to try to learn some new skills for some tasty training treats.
Mistie has shown a little bit of uncertainty around some men at times. She occasionally has seemed fearful of men in certain situations and gets very low and growls at them. This can be remedied with some gentleness and patience to reassure her. Misties now loves her Male foster dad.We recommend if there are adult males in the home that introductions are gentle and patient as it does take her a few days to be fully comfortable with strange men but as for the females of the world Mistie will LOVE you from first sight ……..
Mistie spent the first 18 months of her life living the quiet country life and as a result isn’t quite used to the hustle and bustle of suburban Melbourne. She can be very distracted on walks as she takes in all the sights, sounds and smells of this new world and will require patience and consistent walks and training to help her desensitize to them. Mistie can also pull a bit when walking on the lead, especially when she sees another dog that she would like to say hi to and play with as she is such a social butterfly so she will need an experienced handler with some skills at lead training to help her into the correct mode
Mistie has begun doing some obedience training with her foster family including sit and how to wait for food until she hears ‘yours’. She is also learning a marker word ‘yes’ to help with future training efforts.
