A-bit about him from his Foster Carers.
“SO if you want a dog that sticks to you like Velcro, you have found your dog! He loves shoes and toilet paper and anything else lying around – being a young pup he needs to chew so keep him busy and he won’t bother your stuff. He usually steals shoes and his food bowl and then sleeps with them so ours are all safe so far!
He came to us with NO training but got dumped in the pound at the ripe old age of 7 months because he mouths and chews! Wow how unusual for a puppy and not a reason he nearly lost his life over.
Since being with us this last 10 days he is learning sit and wait. He is learning to come to his new name (he was originally Teflon totally opposite of Velcro so guess his original owners never spent enough time with him to know him as well as we have in a week!) and eats well alongside our other two dogs.
We have been crate training him he isn’t keen to go in but once there sleeps all night quietly until it’s time to wake up or go to the toilet. BUT he would much prefer being on the bed with you so if you are looking for a dog that wants to sleep at your feet and snuggle with you on the couch, Marty is your boy!
Marty loves our two dogs and plays when he chooses (or actually maybe when they choose more so!) but much prefers to be with his human.
So if you want a dog that is with you all day – tradie to take to work, an office you can take him to, he might be your man. Or working from home he would love as he is currently lying by my feet dictating for his profile !!
We think other dogs are great for him, or maybe someone who can spend all day with him loving him and teaching him how to be the best dog he can be but he would love doggy friends to play with.
He has been to work with us and loved meeting everyone and all the pats and attention then promptly fell asleep. Totally unphased by thunderstorms or vacuum cleaners and we believe he would be fine with a dog savvy cat!
We have cats which we can separate and do - he has shown he would just love to play he doesn't look aggressive at all. My cats just stare at him through the wire and let him give them kisses through the wire and if they get bored or annoyed they just show their claws and a hiss and he backs off. So with careful introduction it's definitely possible. We just haven't had time to introduce one on one but he hasn't a mean bone in his body so we believe (but can't guarantee) cats will be a definite possibility! “
Marty is still just a puppy and not only that but a puppy that was dumped at a crucial age of development for dogs. He needs a family that is committed and prepared to helping him further develop his skills and manners so further training is a must. Professional dog training is not a need to adopt Marty but we strongly emphasise that this be implemented into his new home to help him settle in and get some much needed training. He has been tested and left alone for 6 hours and has done really well and hasn’t chewed or been destructive. But if you are prepared to give this boy a chance and put in the effort this young pup needs you are sure to have a best friend for life. We are really hoping to find the right home for this pup one filled with not only all the necessary measures to make sure he grows into a well developed dog, but a home that is going to provide the love and care that this boy has not had in his short life. If you like the sound of him please put an application in.
