WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE.
BEFORE RESCUE: Missy came to SAFE as an owner surrender.
BREED: Kelpie x (12kgs)
BREED TRAITS: A working breed, Kelpies are high energy and highly intelligent, so may need a 'job' to make them feel fulfilled. They get bored easily if their brains are not worked, so training is a must. They are very social with adults and children and social with other dogs. They are very loyal but if the instinct is strong they may try to herd your children.
ASSETS: Affectionate, friendly, outgoing, sensitive, active and playful sum this gorgeous girl up. Shy initially, she soon comes around. The way to her heart is through play!
FAVOURITE THINGS: Fetch! She absolutely loves to fetch anything and has a rope toy and some other soft toys she’s particularly fond of. She loves the beach and will run in and out of the water, and loves snuggle time with her person on the couch.
ENDEARING FEATURES: Missy is a great companion and loves heading out on adventures in the car with you. She’s full of energy but is also happy to cuddle and snooze. She LOVES to be petted and will keep putting her head under your hand if you stop.
OTHER ANIMALS: She gets on well with friendly dogs after supervised introductions. She hasn’t met any cats but chases seagulls at the beach so please no homes with any small animals.
GENERAL: Missy tugs a little on the lead, wanting to explore everything. She is housetrained as long as she has access to outside and will bark when someone comes to the door or if she hears strange noises. Her command training is going great, she knows lots of commands, picks things up really easily and isn’t destructive. Missy could possibly live with another youngish, friendly dog that she can play with, dependent on meet.
ESSENTIALS:
* An active, loving home where someone is there more often than not or can take her with them when out.
* She could live with a young, playful doggy friend but would be equally happy being the only dog in the home and getting all of the attention as long as she isn't left for long periods and is given regular interaction with other dogs.
* An owner who will continue to train her and possibly take her to classes where she can socialise and learn some new skills in a safe environment.
* Good daily exercise and mental activity; will thrive in an active home that is willing to involve her in family activities.
* A fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things for her to sniff and explore.
* Missy loves to be with her people so needs to be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night. Missy is fine around children so could live with dog-savvy, gentle children who are old enough to recognize her signals and give her space if she needs it. She does jump up a little so won’t be suitable around smaller children.
If Missy sounds like the perfect fit for your family, apply and we’ll be in touch soon.
