About Baxter
Baxter is an 3mth old English pointer pup - deemed too small from the breeder which is why he was surrendered to us.
We have had him
Since he was 8 weeks.
He is a quieter pup but still loves to play and run around as puppies do.
He has been in care with 2 playful dogs and 3 cats. And 2 young kids and just loves the attention he gets from everyone.
He would suit a family with an exisiting dog for company and people around him to give him the attention he thrives on.
He will grow into a med to larger breed dog.
He has no pray drive training therefore can live with smaller animals such as cats.
Sleeps overnight in a dog bed inside no issues - will happily go outside to toilet.
Puppy food / bed / toys included.
Baxter was from a breeder and not given the best start to life as was smaller then his siblings - he has a form of dwarfism which means his legs will be shorter then a normal sized English pointer when fully grown.
Baxter is a super snuggly dog and will happily have a snuggle with you to feel the love that being secure provides.
Great in the car travelling in the car.
Has had all puppy vaccines and desexed. Routine flea and worming while in foster care.
He has been consulted by a vet specialist regarding this see notes in medical-
This means he can't be a running companion dog - walks around the block up to 2km when he is an adult and yard play is fine and of course play dates.
He cannot have a house with stairs or a lot of steps either as he does find these a challenge.
Medical notes
Due to medical condition which is a form of dwarfism as Baxter has weaker legs - so he won't be a dog that can do big runs. He will need to always be on a quality diet not shop Bought food.
From specialist
This puppy looks like it has a form of achondrodysplasia with widening of the physes and poor mineralization of the physes. There is also some thinning of the bone cortices. Other than making sure there is an appropriate balanced puppy diet and not an all meat diet, I don't think there is much we can do to alter the disease process and the puppy will likely have shorter legs resembling a chondrodystrophic breed. This should not be a clinical problem unless there is asynchronous growth of the physes in which case an angular deformity may develop. I do think the puppy can still have a normal life despite this abnormality.
