About Faith
Sometimes, you have to have a little…..well…….FAITH!
Perfectly named this little lady has been through hell in her short life and where most would have given up, Faith continued to fight, alongside her dedicated, incredible foster family.
Faith came to us at just a few weeks old. From unknown origins, this little mystery bundle won all of our hearts.
Initially, Faith did well and reached all of her milestones but after a few weeks, she started to fail to thrive.
There was nothing concrete at first, she just seemed to be fading. She didn’t eat as much or as hungrily. She didn’t play as much or seem as interested in what was going on around her. She started to sleep more and walk less.
Vet visits didn’t shed any light on the situation. Blood tests all returned normal results. There didn’t appear to be anything “wrong” with Faith, but it was as if she was choosing to stop living.
As things declined, I had many conversations with her foster carers. I explained to them that sometimes, in nature, there are underlying issues and despite everyone’s best efforts, not all puppies survive.
When Faith stopped eating altogether, her carers began to syringe feed her. When she stopped drinking, they injected fluids under her skin to keep her hydrated. As days turned into weeks, Faith barely held on to life. There were numerous times she was not expected to survive the night but somehow, she always managed to make it to the morning.
Faith became so weak that she could barely stand. She had trouble supporting her bodyweight and her little legs lost all their strength. The light was gone from her eyes and she had lost all interest in her surroundings. We knew the end was near.
AND THEN………………when we felt all hope was gone, something miraculous happened. Faith chose life. Very slowly she began to eat, just tiny amounts, and lap a little water. She even began to walk around a little on her weak little legs that folded like cooked spaghetti with every step she took.
Incredibly, the light started coming back in her eyes. She started to respond to what was going on around her. Her legs became stronger, and her skeletal little body started to get coverage again.
Our Christmas miracle, Faith made the decision to live and to get stronger and to enjoy being a puppy. She became cheeky and playful and even started to play with the cats!
Faith discovered toys and fun and mischief. She became a puppy!
Faith is now going from strength to strength. She is ready to be adopted but there is one thing you MUST know. Faith LOVES the couch. She must be allowed on the couch. After all she has been through, the least we can do is promise her that she will have a couch for life!! She likes to have a little ramp so that she can get on and off the couch herself (but if you have to lift her on and off that is acceptable too). Don’t worry, Faith is more than happy to share the couch with her humans. She is cuddly and snuggly and soft and gentle and beautiful.
We expect Faith to become a medium sized dog but at this stage, she is only around 3kg.
Faith is located in Wondai QLD.
