About Dixie
Hi! I’m Dixie and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR DIXIE
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/qKVHyfsfPu8FmJWi9
NOTE: You are unable to meet Dixie until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Dixie in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A patient family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time.
• A doggie playmate would be great, if not then lots of socialising with other dogs
• A cat may be ok with a slow introduction.
• I arrived at the shelter as a stray so my history is unknown. Due to this, my interaction with cats, pocket pets or fowl that are free roaming in the house or yard is completely unknown. There can be no guarantee that I will be ok living with them. My history with children is also unknown.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• SOCIALISATION is as important as training a puppy. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will ensure I grow into a social and well adjusted dog.
• TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING. It's ESSENTIAL I receive training in all aspects of my life so I can be the best dog I can be when I'm older.
• Being a puppy I will adapt and learn easily, how I mature will only be a reflection of you and my upbringing
• I am a puppy, so I WILL bite, chew things, toilet inside, bark & cry and be destructive. It is up to you to train these behaviours out of me. Please don’t apply for me if you are not willing to put in the effort to train me to grow up to be a well behaved and social dog.
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
My best features:
• Very playful
• Wiggle butt
• I love attention, having snuggles with my humans, kisses and head scratches
• Social butterfly
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• I have never walked on a lead before so I need lots of training to learn to enjoy a stroll around the neighbourhood.
Medical notes
Currently has bilateral ear infection and is on Dermotic twice daily, re-check due to occur 7/2/24. May be prone to ear infections in the future.
