About Rum
Rum is simply adorable. He has these striking good looks with this beautiful tan coat and black points. To top it off, Rum comes with a wonderful personality as well. He is a very sweet boy who loves to cuddle with his humans to get all the pats he can. This boy will happily greet whoever he meets as long as they give him some pats or treats in response! Rum loves to have fun. He is super lanky at the moment and is really just a big goofball who will make you laugh everyday. Rum enjoys playing with balls and squeaky toys and it is so beautiful when he bounces around with his legs going in every direction!
While in care, Rum has been living with one of his brothers and 4 giant breed dogs. He has been learning to play with the big dogs and is generally more submissive in nature to the others. He particularly enjoys a good game of bitey face with his friends, but he also loves to get the zoomies and have a good run around the yard. Rum still gets a little wary of particularly fast movements from the others, but he recovers quickly and gets ready to play again. His new owners will need to be able to give him regular socialisation with other dogs throughout his development, ideally in the form of playdates with known friendly dogs.
Rum is expected to grow to an extra large size (we believe the father was extra large and the mother large) so it is very important that his new owners are committed to teaching him everything he needs to know to be a good canine citizen. He has begun his basic training while in his foster home and can sit on command and progressing with his lead manners. Rum is smashing his toilet training and is crate trained where he sleeps throughout the night without a peep. He is food motivated, though still learning to take gently, and he travels well in the car so it would be great for his new family to take him on adventures with them.
We are looking for a dog experienced home for Rum, preferably with owners who have previous large/extra large dog experience. He would do well living in a home with another large/extra large sized adult dog who is still playful and fully trained up to be a good role model for him. Otherwise, Rum would be fine to live as an only dog if his owners are home most of the time at the beginning to teach him how to be independent. This boy should be allowed to be inside to be with the family and will need a warm comfy bed inside to sleep on at night.
Rum is a big, lanky, goofy boy and may become a hazard for small children while he is learning his manners so we feel he would be better suited to children who are extremely dog savvy with large dogs or older dog savvy children. He is young enough to learn to live with other types of pets with the appropriate guidance and training from his owners. Rum will need owners who are committed to turning him into a stand out example of what a big dog can be. In turn, he will provide lots of cuddles and affection to his new family. But watch out – he might just turn into one of those overgrown lap dogs!
If you would like to make this beautiful boy a part of your family, then please complete a Dog Adoption Enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website as the first step. Please provide plenty of details about your previous dog experience, current household members and the type of lifestyle you can offer Rum.

This puppy will be adopted out under a desexing contract that will require the dog to be desexed by a given age. The cost of desexing will be included as part of the adoption fee. A $250 desexing bond will be payable in addition to the adoption fee and will be refunded upon proof of desexing. This process is further discussed with successful applicants.
Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
