About Porter
Our resident black beauty is ready to find his forever home! This gorgeous boy is seriously a show stopper and is going to make someone a very lovely and very large lapdog.
Porter came to us from a rural pound with his siblings and his foster carers describe him as goofy, sweet natured and very cuddly. He just wants to be wherever his humans are and always makes everyone laugh with his puppy antics. He loves everyone he meets and is a very affectionate young man who is always up for a snuggle - he is hoping his new family enjoys spending quality evening time with their pooch relaxing after some good fun during the day.
Porter is a smart boy and is learning basic training quickly. He knows how to sit, is toilet trained and sleeps through the night in his crate. His leash skills are underway, but due to his vaccination status he has only just started getting out and about to practise further training in new situations. Porter travels well in the car and is extremely food motivated which makes training a breeze. Out and about, Porter loves meeting new people and always is happy to receive pats from admirers. He is just starting to learn about the big wide world in Sydney and can be timid in new situations. With direction and reassurance, he works through these moments well, but he will need new owners who are dedicated to continuing his socialisation with the world and new places slowly and continually to ensure he grows up to be a well rounded canine citizen.
Porter is currently living with one of his siblings and 4 other giant breed dogs who he gets along with famously. He can shy away a little if the adult dogs in the house are doing zoomies, but he is quick to recover and is more than happy to have a play or snuggle with the other dogs in the household. He hasn’t been socialised with many dogs outside of foster care yet, but the ones he has met he has interacted positively with. His new owners will need to continue his socialisation with other known, friendly dogs to ensure he grows up to be a friendly pooch. It would be best if his forever home has at least one other resident dog who is over 3 years of age to be a great role model for Porter.
Porter hasn’t met any kids in care so far, but due to his gentle nature we feel he would be fine to live in a quiet household with very dog savvy kids. Any kids would need to be ok with his size and potential to knock them over as he is a bit lanky and clumsy! He is an extremely loyal dog, and his owners describe him as a bit like Velcro - he just wants to be around you. His carers have been building up his independence, but he still struggles being left completely alone. We feel he will do best in a home with another dog and with someone home most of the time while he is young and finding his feet in the world. Porter absolutely loves toys and can often be found flinging toys around entertaining himself. He is a puppy that is absolutely full of character and is sure to put a smile on your face every day. Porter will be a moderately active boy so is looking for a family who will walk him daily and take him on lots of fun adventures. He will need a house with a yard as when he is not cuddling up to a human or dog in the household, his favourite thing to do is entertain himself in the yard.
Porter is looking for a large (preferably giant) dog experienced family who will allow him inside to be part of the family and provide him a warm and comfy bed to sleep on inside of a night. He will need to be provided a good quality diet, continued training, socialisation and exposure and be able to go on lots of fun outings. He is an easy puppy to have around and with a bit more confidence being left alone and in new situations he will make the perfect family dog.
If you are looking for an extremely cuddly, strikingly beautiful and exceptionally hilarious goofball, then Porter might be your boy. If you are interested in adopting our black beauty, fill out an adoption application form from our website and please provide some information on your previous dog experience and the type of lifestyle you can provide Porter.

This puppy will be adopted out under a desexing contract that will require the dog to be desexed by a given age. The cost of desexing will be included as part of the adoption fee. A $250 desexing bond will be payable in addition to the adoption fee and will be refunded upon proof of desexing. This process is further discussed with successful applicants.
Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
