About Chilli
Chilli is a very endearing little dog who needs a loving and understanding soul to help her gain her happiness back. She was surrendered into care when her elderly owner passed away and she has definitely been grieving. Her foster carer has been giving her plenty of tender loving care and is now starting to see her happiness return.
Chilli is a very sweet little dog who loves to stay close to her human for comfort. If she is not snuggled up beside you on the couch, she is settled on her bed not too far away. Her favourite hobby is napping next to you, and she really loves having her forehead rubbed between her eyes. Chilli has a favourite little ball that she plays with – she is just starting to show her more playful side in care, but she apparently loved chasing her ball out in the yard in her previous home.
Before coming into foster care, Chilli had pretty much never left her home environment and had never met other dogs. However, she has been able to learn to harmoniously live with 4 other dogs in her foster home. She would be able to live as an only dog in her new home or with another low key and easy going dog. Chilli is also living with cats and although she doesn’t attack them, she doesn’t really like them either so will not be being rehomed with cats.
Chilli walks pretty happily on the lead and would be well suited to a daily walk around the block in her new home. She will need her walks to be in a relatively quiet area as she is unsure about walking past strangers at the moment and will bark at other dogs she sees. We do expect that she will grow in confidence with regular outings in a quiet area as she gets more used to being taken out.
At home, Chilli is very easy going. She loves to sleep on the end of her foster carer’s bed, and it really helped her settle in when she first arrived. Chilli was toilet trained in her previous home but has regressed in her foster home. She will need new owners who are able to give her some routine and guidance, particularly in the first couple of months, until she gets the hang of it again. Chilli travels well in the car and would be happy to tag along on simply errands around the place.
We are looking for a dog experienced home for Chilli with someone who will be able to give her the time and love she needs to settle into a new life. We expect that it will take a number of weeks before she starts to really show her true personality and get the hang of her new routine so her new owner will need to have the patience and understanding to help her with this transition. Chilli is looking for a home where someone is going to be home most of the time as she is a true little companion dog who is used to having people by her side. She is fine to be left at home for short periods of time after a little bit of initial complaining.
We will be looking for an adult only home that has a relaxed atmosphere and a yard for her to potter around. She would be fine with quieter visiting children to the home once she has settled in (she used to enjoy the 7yo granddaughter’s very occasional visits in her previous home), but resident children will be too much while she is transitioning. Chilli has a lot of love to give and just needs someone who can give her the right environment to open up in so that she can share that love with her new humans.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
