About Badger
Please meet me, my name is Badger and I am a 2 year and 6 month old Dachshund who weighs 7.5 kg
My foster mum describes me as a typical Dachshund who loves to be with you, helping you, following you, watching you needy bum!
I don't have issues meeting people but I am a typical Dachshund so I will bark and remind them I am tough and fierce, and then my foster mum introduces the person to me and I'm like oh wow they are here for me - okay hiiiiiii!
So I would love to lie next to you on the couch, on a chair, even in bed (if allowed).
I love to lie next to my foster mum when she is on the couch and I like to follow (my foster mum says waddle) after her when she is doing things in the house but I think I’m super helpful.
I love to play with toys - I have a favorite white teddy bear and a rubber cactus that I love to play with and entertain myself with.
I love being active and playing in side or outside - I can play fetch and will bring it back to you 90% of the time.
I would love a home where my humans want me to help them with the mowing, gardening and watering the garden.
I am toilet trained and have used doggy doors before, but if not I will let you know I need to go.
The rescue has tested me and I can play with some dogs for a small while, but I am also very annoying to them and most of my playing goes pear shape and I react - so the rescue has said I would be best as a only dog but that means more attention for meeeeee.
My current foster home does have very good fencing as I do like to bark at the neighbor dog when he rushes the fence, or the dog and I will spend our time running up and down the fence barking and 'playing' on our own sides - so I would either need good hedges or fences and some time spent reminding me of my manners at first.
I do think that one of my most important jobs is making sure the home is safe from birds landing in the backyard - it's kind of a game I have with them - and I swear they enjoy it too as they keep coming and visiting.
I love to go for walks and waddle my way thru things. My foster mum says I walk on a lead with my harness nicely and while I can be suspect at playing with other dogs I don't have an issue walking past them on the lead or being in close proximity to them.
I also love to travel in the car so an awesome travel buddy for you.
I have some lovely manners (even if I do say so myself), and I can sit, stay and wait for food and be told to eat. I can also sit, stay and wait at the door while you go in and out the door (how clever am I?)
I will come to you 95% of the time when you call, just that once in a while I need a 'Badger come' reminder.
I have not been tested on cats
I currently sleep in my crate, and if I've had a big day I will put myself to bed, but if I've had a lazy day I need to be reminded and may whine for a minute.
I would love a home where I have access to inside and outside and if you work from home I will happily snooze in my bed or lay at your feet while you work. If you weren't home I would still snooze probably on the couch using a ramp or stairs (as that's important for my back) and then go outside when I need for man business.
So if you’re looking for a super sweet loving boy who’s just looking for a quiet life were we can share cuddles the blanket and walkies - please apply!!!

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
