Meet Buster, the perfect furry addition to your family! This handsome guy is looking for a forever home filled with love, patience, and a touch of adventure. With a charming personality and a heart full of love, Buster is sure to leave an impression.
About: Buster is best suited for individuals or families with prior dog ownership experience.
Buster is a unique blend of characteristics that make him a joy to be around. He's gentle, sensitive, friendly, curious, affectionate, and engaging. While he may show a touch of anxiety, a loving home and some post-adoption training will help him flourish into the best version of himself.
What we do know since Buster has been in our care is that he’s a lovely boy who deserves a second chance.
Ideal Home: His ideal home is either a calm and quiet oasis or an active and outdoorsy haven. Whether you enjoy a peaceful evening on the couch or a weekend hike, Buster is ready to join in on the fun.
This handsome fella is well-suited for both suburban living or the wide-open spaces of a farm or acreage, thanks to his working breed lineage. A medium to large yard with secure fencing will provide him the space he needs to explore and play safely.
Family: Although Buster adores children, he would do best in a home with kids who are aged 5 years and up. Reason for this is that he had a less than perfect previous home – sudden movements & raised hands can leave a negative impact on him…
His playful spirit shines through though, but he's a bit unsure of himself, making older children the perfect companions to help him grow and find his confidence. It's an opportunity for both Buster and his new human friends to embark on a journey of mutual discovery.
Buster would be a good fit for households with part-time or full-time workers.
Furry Friends: Having lived with his sister Sasha before, Buster has experience in canine companionship. While he's open to meeting other dogs, he is a tad bit shy and lacks a little confidence. So, any introductions to other dogs should be done in neutral territory, in a controlled manner where both dogs boundaries are respected.
As we cannot test, we're unsure about his compatibility with cats, leaving that decision in the capable hands of his new owners.
Work: Being a working breed its not uncommon for Buster to want to work. Buster knows his name, knows how to sit, and doesn't jump—making him the perfect addition to any loving home.
His love for treats is evident, but he is too polite to take from your hand, he'll patiently wait for them to be placed on the ground before enjoying his reward. We can see that he responds well to commands but can sometimes be a little distracted.
He would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home or 1-on-1 training with a professional to help build his confidence.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: As he has moderate energy levels, he would be content with 20-60 minutes of daily exercise or walks. He's a well-mannered companion who doesn't bark unnecessarily and walks beautifully on a lead.
This charming pup is not just a pet; he's a loyal friend ready to embark on a lifetime of love and adventures with you.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Adoption details
Please remember that the pets we have available sometimes come to us with no history, so we do our very best to get to know them while they are here and to match them to your home. Sometimes animals behave differently outside of the shelter environment, so please do keep in touch after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
