About Abby
Abby came to DRA with a large tumour and severe skin condition. A call out for an urgent foster carer. Abby had her guardian angel come forward Serena a local animal loving vet nurse. Abby was a very frightened dachshund when she was collected. Nervous and confused, Abby's response was to bite. Georgie and Charlie the resident dogs had this crazy new dachshund suddenly arrive. Abby is ball driven and will play 24/7. Melody the cat Abby thought was her new game. Serena and Aaron have dedicated a lot of time socialising and training Abby, the big bad world isn't such a scary place. Abby saw the vet and started Apoquel for her skin and a good diet has helped the condition no end. Her coat has been transformed! So far she has had two surgeries, The large mass a tumour was removed. After she recuperated, she required further surgery for her melanomas dark sun spots on her tummy from spending extended time outdoors on concrete. Abby is a feisty girl with lots of personality every op she has she takes in her stride. Abby guardian angels are "foster fails" They have stuck with this often difficult girl who is now a big part of their family. Abby's charm has worked it's magic on extended family who recently had the dogs when they had a holiday. DRA also thanks Dr Martin at Motto Farm Veterinary Hospital for assisting with Abby's treatment.
